STORIES TO FOLLOW

Felix Hansen, a 5th grader at Lemonweir Elementary, turned years of planning into a lucrative fundraiser for hurricane relief. Felix went through the whole planning, approval, promoting, and payout process (with the generous help and support of his teachers and principal) to start a penny war fundraiser in his school. The school was able to raise just over $2,000 that will go to two organizations involved in hurricane relief. Watch for more on this incredible story.

Lily Joyce, a junior at THS, was accepted into the 2023 Wisconsin State Senate Scholar Program. This program is an opportunity directly organized by our WI legislature. Per their website: “The Senate Scholar Program is an intensive week-long educational program offered by the Wisconsin State Senate. Admission to the program is highly competitive and is limited to 33 academically exceptional high school juniors and seniors from around Wisconsin. Each Senate Scholar receives a hands-on, up-close view of the Legislature’s role in our democracy.” Lily is set to attend in February; watch for more as we follow up with her after her experience.

Ms. Ellsworth’s 8th grade art kiddos were challenged with drawing from observation to create their first Still Life creation! They all worked quietly and diligently to get every detail and shadow down.

TMS Art Club had the opportunity to create ornaments for the Veterans at the VA. Advisor and TMS Art Teacher, Libby Hansen and Ms. Jennifer Conzemius, Tomah VA Volunteer Coordinator, joined us for a picture with the artists and the ornaments. The veterans’ names will be placed on the ornaments and hung on their tree at the VA. The Art Club artists will learn to crochet and make washcloths for the veterans as our next project.

Our Lost & Found piles are growing! Please be sure to label your students’ personal belongings; we will ensure labeled items are returned to their owner. Any unclaimed items are routinely donated. Director of Transportation, Mr. Tom Dummermuth, is hoping the lost and found in his office shrinks before he makes a donation. If you see something familiar in the photo above, please contact the Transportation Office to claim!
