Hello TASD Families, - Dr. Hanson

This Sunday our nation remembers the victims of 9/11. “Gov. Tony Evers has signed Executive Order #174 ordering the flags of the United States and the state of Wisconsin to be flown at half-staff beginning on Fri., Sept. 9, 2022, through sunset on Sun., Sept. 11, 2022, out of respect for the nearly 3,000 individuals who lost their lives in the attacks on Sept. 11, 2001. Additionally, Executive Order #174 declares Sun., Sept. 11, 2022, as a state Day of Service and Remembrance to encourage all Wisconsinites to commit acts of service and do good in their communities in commemoration of the lives lost.” (Governor’s Office Press Release September 8, 2022)

Governor Tony Evers and State Superintendent Dr. Jill Underly visited TMS and Miller Elementary on Wednesday. Governor Evers was able to reminisce on his time as a teacher and principal in our district during his visit. He made a special stop in Mrs. Von Haden’s class at Miller. Mrs. Von Haden shared the story that the Governor hired her father as a teacher during his time as principal! The Governor also made a stop in Mr. Ewers science class and met the pet bearded dragon- Toothless. The TMS WEB Leaders guided the Governor through the school and gave narratives as they walked the Newshalls.

Junior students in each of Mrs. Elizabeth Adams-Hoag’s English classes completed a hexagonal thinking activity on Sept. 1 and 2 to share their uniqueness and find connections. Not only did each student find at least one connection, all six sections of Adams-Hoag’s Junior English students connected! Pictured is the Hour 4 class and the six-class connection.

The Wisconsin Department of Justice (DOJ) Office of School Safety (OSS) is thrilled to announce the launch of the SPEAK UP, SPEAK OUT Resource Center (SUSO). SUSO is a comprehensive, one-stop place to turn to with your concerns regarding school safety. A facet of the Resource Center that we are particularly pleased to share with Wisconsin students and parents is the threat reporting system. The SUSO threat reporting system is available 24/7 and is free to all.
