THS Students Write Letters for Honor Flight Veterans

Students in Mrs. Tina Gnewikow’s US and World History classes and Mrs. Julianna Scott’s JAG classes also joined in the mission to write letters to veterans on the Honor Flight. To share a bit of Tomah spirit, students selected and used cards made by Mrs. Gretchen Meacham’s Card Shop class. Pictured are Hour 8 students from English and JAG.

Mrs. Scott (THS JAG) noted “I learned of a family friend who is embarking on a Never Forgotten Honor Flight to Washington, DC in May. In learning more about this amazing opportunity for veterans, I discovered that veterans on the flight may receive mail from family and friends during “mail call,” just like they did when they served overseas. I knew it would be a wonderful opportunity for my students, so they worked individually or with a partner to write a letter to an Honor Flight veteran.” The Never Forgotten Honor Flight is a Not For Profit Organization of dedicated volunteers providing Veterans with closure, gratitude & respect by flying them to Washington D.C. to visit their memorials. Priority is given to senior veterans – World War II era, followed by Korea era & lastly Vietnam era. This opportunity if provided free-of-charge to Veterans.
