Our programs have been designed to encourage discussion, promote comfort, and have fun, all while learning about our bodies and the many amazing things that they are capable of. For years, parents have often struggled with how to find the right words to discuss certain topics with their children.

Welcome to The Rites of Passage, where it is our strong belief that educating parents and children together has become the new foundation for beginning these conversations in a fun and non-threatening environment. Our classes have each been developed with common principles in mind: Communication and Connection. It is our goal to help parents and children learn new ways of communicating about topics that are typically thought of as uncomfortable to talk about, and to find ways to connect through ongoing conversations outside of the classroom setting. Topics include: puberty, understanding the female & male reproductive systems, body care, menstruation, reproduction, body image/self esteem, personal space/relationships. $140 for parent and 1 child, $210 for parent and 2 children. Saturday, October 1 6:00pm - 9:00pm – Pool Dinner will be catered by Royal Islanders and will include Kalua Pork, Teriyaki Chicken, Island Steamed

Rice, Hawaiian BBq Beans, Tropical Fruit Salad, Rolls and Dessert. There will be a Hawaiian Trio playing live music during dinner followed by a Polynesian floorshow with a fireknife dancer and hula dancers. Cost is $15 for adults, $10 for kids. Please purchase wristbands in The Club by 9/26.

Hub Multi Sports Fall Break Camp

Boys and Girls Ages 5-14 Monday - Friday, October 10 - 14 8:30am - 12:30pm or 8:30am - 3:00pm Teen Center & Bandstand Event Lawn This fall camp is designed to combine traditional sports, team games, leadership activities, crafts and fun with water.

The program stimulates every child that participates and provides them with a memorable camp experience. The camp is offered each day from 8:30am – 12:30pm or 8:30am – 3:00pm. $135 per child for 1/2 day camp, $190 per child for full day camp. Daily drop in with a pro rated fee available.

Parents Night Out

Friday, October 14 5:00pm - 9:00pm – Teen Center Want to finish your week with a relaxing night? Our Parents Night Out offers you the option to drop off your children and know they are in a supervised, structured, and safe environment. Our instructors will provide your children with activities, games and endless fun, finishing with a movie and popcorn. Simply drop them off, go have fun and pick them up. Wear T-shirts, shorts and sneakers, and bring snacks and a drink. Kids will play games both indoor and outdoors facilitated by our amazing staff. If your child has food sensitivities, we do not offer a substitute to the cheese pizza provided. Cost is $30 per child, $15 additional sibling (online). Drop in rate is $40 per child, $15 per additional

sibling (cash). $10 fee will be assessed for late pick up after 9:00pm. To register, please visit www.hubsports.org. We require a minimum of 4 children to deliver the program.

Poker Night

Friday, October 21 8:00pm – Member’s Club The night will include 2 back to back $10 buy-in tournament games, (about an hour each), then cash games. $40 total should cover your play for the evening. You are encouraged to bring a snack to share. BYOB if you wish.

Join us even if you don’t want to play poker – just hang out.

Annual Harvest Festival

Saturday, October 22 3:00pm – 5:30pm – Bandstand Event Lawn There will be activities for kids of all ages! Festivities will include a DJ, bouncies, swing ride, pony rides, petting zoo, a face painter, carnival games, hot dogs, popcorn and plenty of candy. Of course, kids should wear their Halloween costumes as we will be giving away prizes. Cash sales for Kona Ice. $15 for kids, $10 for adults. Please purchase wristbands in The Club by 10/20. Cost per ticket will go up $5 each if purchased after 10/20. Trunk or Treating will follow the festival in the parking lot.

You may choose to sell items in your own driveways or with neighbors in a common area within your neighborhood. We will advertise Friday and Saturday in the AZ Republic, on Craigslist and put directionals up outside of the neighborhood directing traffic to the community. MONTHLY CLASSES Men’s & Women’s Fitness Boot Camp

Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, 5:45am - 6:45am and/or 9:00am - 10:00am Bandstand Event Lawn You are invited to join this Boot Camp class offered by Giant Strides Fitness of Scottsdale! The classes are designed for total body conditioning, and include strength and body toning exercises using resistance bands, jump ropes, and medicine balls. You may join in the classes at any time.

Fee is $75 for 10 sessions. Giant Strides Fitness also offers a monthly hiking group for beginners and experienced hikers. Boot Camp is a unique program because it will be tailored to your specific strengths and abilities. It’s never too late to begin a Giant Strides fitness program! What is Pilates? The Pilates Method of Body Conditioning is a system of exercises that focus on the “Powerhouse.” These deep postural muscles of the body—mainly the abdominals, buttocks, hips and inner thighs—strengthen and lengthen the body. While strengthening the core stability muscles, Pilates works towards re-aligning the spine to its optimum position. Focusing on this proper form and alignment while strengthening the core stability muscles through movement is what Pilates is all about. You must connect your mind to your body in order to execute the movement properly.
