Architecture trascends beyond the three physical dimensions. Architecture includes the human culture, experience and emotions. Good architecture is something that pleases more than the eyes, it should imprint a special memory or evoke a moment to be experienced.

Upon identification of site setbacks and other code restrictions, the primary form was achieved by extruding to the client’s requirements. The highlighted area was designated as a land lease for a major anchor.
The garden in the central part of the structures was introduced. To connect the two separate structures, bridges were introduced on the upper floors.

This is a renovation project for an existing residential property. The site is located in a suburban area in Silang, Cavite, Philippines. The project is accessible by a collector road branching out from a major arterial highway. The property is surrounded by multiple residential houses and apartments with a few small commercial establishments.
The existing structure has the longitudinals oriented towards the prevailing winds, however the sturcture was built to line, with firewalls on the sides with no ventilation opportunities.
The existing condition of the second floor is an open roof deck with the existing circulation stairs highlighted in green.s
Defining the separation between residential (yellow) and commercial (blue) use. A new accesss stairs for the commercial use is also introduced.
The existing construction is a 2-storey structure, the 2nd storey being an open roof deck.
The goal of the project was to make the 2nd floor a residential space for the next generation of the family and to make the front end of the ground floor and second floor a commercial space.
Further defining the residential use into individual uses. Yellow for the ciruclation and bedroom, orange for the living and toilet. Also providing roof deck garden as an extention of the living area.
After the space blocking, the areas were further defined. The main consideration was to provide natural light and ventilation to all spaces. Since the sides of the property were built to line, the introduction of a large deck garden was considered. This deck garden also serves as an extension of the living area or family room.
The material swatches used for the project was a selection of wood, black, warm grey, beige and orange. This gives off a warm and natural feel for the structure, making it a pleasing aesthetic experience. This also highlights the ‘residentiality’ versus the commercial parts of the structure and softens the geometric form.

A residential extension to accommodate a requirement of a fitness gym area by providing an additional story. The project is located in a subdivision in the rural area of Silang, Cavite. The existing structure is a 2-storey residential house, the client requested to have an additional story to accommodate a fitness gym area with a ceiling height of 4.5 meters.
Although the existing structure has some exterior finishes that are a bit off and hard to work with, I have decided to retain most of the existing structure and only work on the additional story. Since the primary user of the additional area will be the male owner, the design, materials and finishes used in the interior was mostly neutral tone and masculine in aesthetics.
For the exterior, I proposed a modern minimalist tropical residential design. By using these very limited materials, it will be cheaper and faster to be built especially since the pandemic have affected the construction industry.
