Holly Robinson Shares Her Skills

Last Friday, we were very fortunate to be visited by Paralympian Holly Robinson. Holly ran sessions with many of our students, focusing on discus, shot put, javelin, and long jump. She shared her expertise, helped students refine their techniques, and level competition.

It was an inspiring experience, and we are incredibly grateful to Holly for taking the time to work with our students. You can find out more about Holly here: https://paralympics.org.nz/paralympian/holly-robinson-183/

Inspiring Excellence in Education, in Character and in Life.

We have had another busy but fabulous week at Tokomairiro High School. Year 7 to 10 students started their testing, which will continue this week. All our students took this very seriously, and we are so impressed with their attitude and effort. These assessments help us understand where each student is at in their learning journey so we can provide the

Students Compete at Challenge Wānaka

On Friday, Shilah Milligan, Sophie Greer, Natalie Dobson, Hunter Dodds, Troy Mallon, Lucas Stevenson, and Jack Scholten travelled to Wānaka to compete in Challenge Wānaka for the first time. They participated in the secondary and intermediate schools triathlon, competing against students from 18 other schools.

While our teams did not place in the top three, they all had a fantastic day, showing determination, resilience, and great teamwork. A huge thank you to Rebecca Mallon and Emily Currall for accompanying the team and supporting them

The Tokomairiro High School PTA had their first meeting of the year last week, and it was great to see their enthusiasm for supporting our school. News from the Trenches...

On Saturday we had a memorial service for Nev Collins who has recently passed away. There was a good turn out of members sharing many stories and happy memories for a member who was much loved. RIP Nev.

This coming Saturday we have one of our highlights of the year with our annual Fishing Comp. Make sure all entries have been weighed and registered by 4pm. If it's 4.01pm and you had Moby Dick, bad luck!!! Remember this year funds going to Otago Rescue Helicopter who do a wonderful service, unfortunately they are always busy. So come along for a great day, don't believe all fishing tales of fish who have gotten away.

Our Super Rugby comp has kicked off this week with almost 66 entered and when I created this column, I have heard of wide range of scores. Even the organizer was only 1/8 which proves how difficult this comp is. This year I reckon could be the season for the under dog to come through.

With the current sizzling hot temperature we have been having, hopefully those magicians have been keeping their spuds watered as it's not long until Verdict Day for our Spud Dig in middle of March.

This column doesn't have any room for gossip this week even though I've heard some fantastic stories. Might not be relevant by next week. The list of members I'm not allowed to mention is growing by the week. My legal team are processing several court injunctions. So to avoid that, then you must get to the RSA.

Outward Bound a Life Changing Opportunity

On the 6th of January, I embarked on a life-changing experience. Graciously fully given and funded to me, I completed the 21-day Mind/Body/Soul Outward Bound

This course taught me many things. I learned what I am capable of after many hikes and sailing trips, kayaking, rock climbing, a 3-day solo in the bush, and a half marathon. It gave me more confidence in myself and working with others in different environments.

I learned a lot about myself, what my values are, and my goals for the future. I met and made lifetime friends and am truly grateful to Mr McClure, the Otago Community Trust Fund, and The Rotary Club for funding and helping me experience this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
