Information Is Power

I

nformation is power. It’s an old adage and one you’ve heard often, because it rings true in every situation. Information is the currency of today’s world. (How many times have you used Google in the last week?) Organized information is powerful. Accurate information is critical. And up-to-date information is a gold mine. The Today’s Charlotte Woman 2008-09 Resource Guide is your ticket to the vast amount of information available to Charlotte-area residents, and it is the only reference guide in The Queen City designed to specifically address the needs of professional women! Our goal is to empower you, our readers, with organized, accurate and up-to-date information that will help you achieve your goals, whatever they might be. You may have a goal of putting your financial house in order, finding a nanny or locating an organization where you can meet people who share your interests. Or perhaps you'd like to alert your congresswoman to the issues that matter to you. The TCW Resource Guide will assist you in discovering connections to solutions for many of the challenges we face as busy, engaged, professional women. In this year’s Resource Guide, we start with a celebration of women who have been honored for their achievements in business and philanthropy. Many of them have been featured in prior issues of Today's Charlotte Woman, but their achievements are certainly worth a second look. Here, you can see them together in all their collective glory.

We also offer you informative articles about issues that are relevant and timely in your world as a career woman. You will find authoritative observations on making the best of public speaking, building an effective team, establishing a viable network, dressing professionally and fashionably, and tackling the often-prickly subject of hiring the right people. Pay particular attention to the businesses that have elected to participate in this issue. You will find not only their advertisements, but also their company profiles and experts’ views on a variety of topics. These are the firms that understand your role as decision maker in the household and value the economic clout that you wield as a woman. Support them with your patronage. The rest of this annual special edition of Today's Charlotte Woman is dedicated to providing you with the information you need to access the myriad area women’s organizations; business, consumer and community resources; and city, county and state lawmakers and government agencies. Information is indeed power, and here in your hands is a valuable tool to harness the resources available to each of you. Put it to work. More power to you,

Note: Every effort has been made to ensure the accuracy of the information contained in the TCW Resource Guide. Please email our office to report any errors or updates at info@todayscharlottewoman.com.
