Born in San Diego, I grew up in the cornfields of central Illinois. After studying drama, I moved to New York and pursued a career as an actor, but became increasingly drawn to work that has a larger impact on the world. I worked in non-profit grants administration, mainly at arts and public health foundations, and there discovered the field of landscape architecture.

I am drawn to urban spaces that connect people with natural processes and to wild spaces that allow people in. Exploring a site deeply, researching its history or how water and visitors flow through it, excites my design work.

Cultural Landscape design/Pennsbury Manor Pennsbury Manor is the reconstructed country estate of William Penn in Bucks County, PA along the Delaware River. The design for a preserved and enhanced site with a new Delaware burial ground was created as part of a year long capstone studio. The burial ground aims to reveal a history previously absent from the site, while preserving the existing Willam Penn and more recent cultural histories on-site.

Woodland Design/Temple Ambler Arboretum Deer Garden The Ambler Arboretum Deer Garden was designed as part of semester-long studio focused on woodland design. The garden, located of the campus of Temple University in Ambler, PA, educates and demonstrates native plantings that tolerate the heavy deer presence typical of suburban Pennsylvania, while also providing opportunities for research into deer tolerance.

Reading Viaduct Park in Callowhill Philadelphia was the focus of a semester-long urban design studio. The park anchors the Reading Viaduct, an elevated linear park along the former Reading Viaduct rail line, providing much needed green space in a quickly gentrifying neighborhood. Emphasis in this studio was placed on hand graphics. Teams of three students completed inventory and analysis for the site, as well as documenting design precedents for urban woodland parks. Final designs were created individually.

A new Spring Mill SEPTA station for the Spring Mill community in Conshohocken/Whitemarsh Township in Montgomery County, PA was designed as part of a one-semester public lands studio. The site, along the Schuylkill River, is in a postindustrial neighborhood transitioning to large scale commercial and residential uses. Despite its proximity , there is no current access to the river and few green spaces. Parking and vehicular circulation for the proposed regional rail station are also a high-priority concern for the community.

Chester High School and Eyre Park were the focus of a semester long Wetland Design project. The site in Chester, PA is currently the home of Chester High School, an abandoned elementary school building, and a largely unused sports park wtih baseball and football fields. The site, approximately one mile from the outfall of Chester Creek into the Delaware River, is subject to frequent flooding, despite the well-maintained dike along the creek in a portion of the site. Design integrates natural and more obviously man-made green stormwater infrastructure (GSI) with a rainwater workshop where students can gain experience installing and maintaining GSI and a restored tidal marsh increasing the flood capacity of the creek and its floodplain.
