At the recent 20th Anniversary Habanos Festival, Habanos S.A. officials divulged the company’s financial performance for 2017, and for many the news came as a shock. Overall, revenues grew by 12 per cent to reach nearly $500 million, and the principal driving force was attributed to the Chinese market, were sales surged a whopping 33 percent in 2017. This is the second year in a row that the sale Cuban cigars around the world outpaced luxury personal goods in general, and by a growing margin. Global

The Habanos Festival is by far the largest international gathering of premium cigar enthusiasts and trade members in the world, with this year’s week-long festival bringing upwards of 2,000 participants to the island for tours of tobacco plantations in Cuba’s prime growing region of Vuelta Abajo, Pinar del Río; tours of cigar factories; a commercial trade fair; international
