Craig Hurring from Love Wimbledon talks Christmas, ice rinks and pantos in Wimbledon Town Centre What can we look forward to this festive season in Wimbledon Town Centre? Everything will be Sugar and Spice and All Things Ice in Wimbledon this festive season. There is more to do than ever, with new activities alongside the perennial favourites! It kicks off in November with exciting theatre performances including The Snow Queen at Polka Theatre and the Cinderella pantomime at New Wimbledon Theatre, starring Craig Revel-Horwood. Our Christmas Markets on The Piazza offer 12 days of shopping for special and unique festive gifts for all the family. And NEW for 2023 – Ice skating at the Wimbledon Quarter SW19 - what a joy! Two larger than life Christmas trees (outside Wimbledon Station and The Piazza) provide the perfect backdrop for photos with family and friends. What is different this year? Our Wimbledon Winterfest will take place Sunday 26th November 12-6pm in a new spot next to the Wimbledon
Quarter SW19, with vintage rides for children, alpine memorabilia (think 1980s skiing!), hot food and drinks and community performances on our snow stage. Plus, ice is the main attraction this year, with magical ice sculptures and ice sculpting workshops. Of course, there’s always our classic Christmas Market on the Piazza too. For the spectacle lovers, there will be fireworks and a new laser light show which can be seen from Queen’s Road at 5:30pm. From 18th November you can skate the day or night away at the Wimbledon Quarter (formerly Centre Court Shopping Centre) on the ice rink under their new retractable roof. New Wimbledon Theatre is channelling community spirit, hosting a Christmas Sing-Along Concert on 16th December with a live band, choir and special guest soloists – it’s a party you won’t want to miss! How will Wimbledon provide the best festive night out this year? Traditional turkey dinner or more
exotic festive menus for those that like to try something a little different. There’s free-flowing fizz, dancing, or comedy, catch a show at the theatre or cinema, ice skating under the stars or choose to do it all. There really is something for everyone. What will appeal to families? Our annual Winterfest event, of course. Beyond that, the Polka Theatre has performances for all ages as well as workshops during the Christmas break. Make the panto a family tradition with Cinderella at New Wimbledon Theatre or experience something more intimate and interactive in the Studio.
