Bureau of Energy Efficiency Registration T he Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) was established by the Government of India pursuant to the provisions of the Energy Conservation Act 2001 on 1 March 2002. T he role of the Agency is to establish programs that will increase energy conservation and productive usage in India. T he government has proposed making it mandatory for the BEE to provide ratings for certain appliances in India beginning in January 2010. T he Energy Efficiency Bureau's mission is to "institutionalize" energy efficiency programs, promote in-country delivery mechanisms and provide energy efficiency leadership in all sectors of the country. In the overall sense of the Energy Conservation Act 2001, the mission of the Energy Efficiency Bureau, with the primary objective of reducing the energy intensity of the Indian economy, is to help develop policies and strategies with an emphasis on selfregulation and market values.

BEE's General Goals are as Follows: 

To exercise leadership and provide national energy conservation and improvement initiatives and services with policy advice and guidance.

Coordinating strategies and projects for energy management and recycling and bringing them to stakeholders.

Establish processes and procedures for assessing, tracking and checking the effects of energy efficiency in specific sectors and at the macro level.

Leverage funding from the multi-lateral, bi-lateral and private sectors to enforce the Energy Efficiency Act and to use energy and its conservation programs effectively.

To illustrate, by private-public partnerships, the provision of energy-efficient services as required in the EC bill.

As envisaged in the Energy Conservation Act, to interpret, prepare and manage energy conservation programs.

In addition to these, f ollowing are also the objectives BEE aims f or:- 

Provide guidelines and policy proposals for national energy conservation programs.

Coordinating policies and programs for shareholders on the productive use of electricity.

Establishing systems and processes to check, calculate and track improvements in Energy Efficiency (EE).

Leveraging funding from the multilateral, bilateral and private sectors to adopt EC Act '01'.

Demonstrate structures of EE distribution via public-private partnerships.
