The Apalachin Lions Club 5K Run Results
On October 19, the Apalachin Lions Club hosted its 2nd Annual 5K Run at the Apalachin Fireman’s Field Grounds. Once the October fog lifted, 116 runner’s registered to run the 3.1 mile course. People from across the Southern Tier, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Virginia, and as far away as Colorado participated. The first runner to cross the finish line was Brandon Devonshire, 18, of Warren Center, PA, with a time of 17 minutes and 48 seconds. Just a step behind him was Chris Wescott, 17, of Cortland, with a time of 17 minutes and 51 seconds. The top female finisher was Karli Moyer, 13, of Rome, PA, with a time of 21 minutes and 40 seconds. This year the Lions added a Walkers Division. Gregg Brown and Mary Hawley, both of Apalachin, brought home top honors. Following the 5K, a Kids Fun Run took place with about 15 kids entered.
