The meeting for November will be held in the conference room at the Tioga County Office Building.YES WE ARE BACK INTO WINTER MODE. The meeting will be on November 17,2014 at 7:00 PM. As we are now into the beginning of our steps to consolidate

with Iroquois Region, it is vital that we have all the feedback from the membership that we can accumulate. No one wants to miss an important issue that might lead to a mistake in our preparation for the future.

this consolidation, however the population of both regions voted 3 to 1 in favor and the majority rules.

Let’s all try to have an open mind and a co-operative attitude while your representatives try to provide I know that there are the best club that we some of our memcan for all conbers who oppose cerned.

Congratulations! Once again we are proud to announce that the Miltons, John and Lisa have received a well de-

served First Junior Award for their 1956 Chevy Nomad. This car will be receiving it’s Preservation

Award before we know it!! A perfect restoration on a car that draws attention wherever it goes!!

Who Are We? For the last 30 years we have been Tioga Region, a dedicated group of individuals who own and enjoy some of the most desirable automobiles from American history. We have shown our pride in some of the best car shows in the northeast. We have driven our prized possessions to some of the most interesting locations within our beautiful nation. Let’s face it we have had fun with cars that many other people would love to own. For the last 60 years our friends from Iroquois Region have also had the same enjoyment from their historic vehicles. They too have experienced the thrill of having the public admire the cars that they have

preserved and lovingly polished for all to see. The friendly banter over the drawbacks of a Ford or Chevy, the jibes about the VW and Rambler, the comparison of horsepower of Plymouth and Pontiac muscle cars happened not only in Tioga Region but also in Iroquois Region. Most of our cars have been shown in Iroquois Region shows and most of their cars have appeared in Tioga Region shows. Some of our members have become members of Iroquois Region and some of their members have joined Tioga Region. We all have felt the comradeship of the car hobby when we meet each other at

car shows and swap meets. In the last three years due to aging and attrition the Iroquois Region President has approached Tioga Region with the suggestion that we consider a move to consolidate our two clubs into a bigger and improved new Region. As you know we recently held a vote to determine the feelings of both Regions about this consolidation. We also all know that there has been a deciding vote of three to one for that merger. I know that this seems to be an unnecessary rehashing of this issue, but there are complications to the plan that we need to overcome.

Who Are WE? (Continued) There is a highly vocal minority of the Iroquois Region membership that are waging a campaign to block the merger. Unfortunately these detractors also are more active in Iroquois Region than those who support the merger. The vocal faction of Iroquois Region are able to frustrate the formation of our consolidation committee by arguing that the election of officers is eminent and as such the selection of members of the Consolidation Committee members should be at the discretion of whom ever becomes the new president of Iroquois Region. During this delay that has been imposed by these vocal opponents of the consolidation

they have also approached Steve Moskowitz, the Executive Director of our National A.A.C.A. with their objections to the merger while not giving the proponents a chance to voice their feelings and reasoning for the consolidation. This vocal faction also are challenging the vote that took place in Iroquois Region calling it illegal as Iroquois ballot contained only space for one vote per household rather than the duel vote space that Tioga Region offered on our ballot. The detractors argue that Iroquois Region ballots denied half their membership their voice in the vote. I have retained the ballots that Tioga Region cast and without exception each ballot that was returned had the same vote cast by both spouses regardless of the side that was sup-

ported. Why would there be a difference in Iroquois Region? Although there has not been any decision as to the new region’s name, the detractors in Iroquois Region insist that the only name has to be Iroquois Region. I am aware that there are members of Tioga Region who also support the preservation of our name. It is my belief that whatever the name we finely adopt, we will maintain a history of both regions in our annuals. We have become deadlocked in our efforts by a small group of people who assume that they know better the future than those who are trying to make our Regions a stronger and more outstanding representation of the collector car hobby. Who Are We? (Final) I feel that we all need to take a moment to reevaluate just who we are. We are the local members of an organization that encompasses over 600,000 members worldwide! A.A.C.A. is a movement that started in 1935 with the sole purpose of preserving the rich history of the automobile in America. We revel in being able to restore and show our cars that are a piece of that history. True with a good natured banter we might rib our fellow members about their choice of make they have

Howard’s List of Potential Charities Each year we face the sometimes difficult decision as to what charities we will support with the funds we have raised through our flea market and car show. It has to be remembered that one of the main purposes of Tioga Region is the support of those in need in our community. We do have a certain amount of need for funds in order to continue to function. However when we accumulate an excess over our needs we seek to be a help where we can for those who share our community. We acknowledge that there are charities that are supported on an individual basis by our membership and we in

no way wish to infer that we are trying to replace any individual’s generosity. We do however, as a group, traditionally support those in need. With the above remarks in mind, I now publish a list of worthy charities that we might consider supporting in the coming year. 1 Tioga County Rural Ministry Food Bank. 2. Open Door Mission. 3. BOCES Scholarships. 4. Tioga Boys and Girls Club. 5Campville Fire Department. (They have been present for us at our car shows) 6. Newark Valley Historical Society. (for the use of the Newark Valley Depot in our summer meetings)

7.Tioga United Way. 8. Tioga Opportunities. 9. Tioga County STOP DWI. 10.Town of Owego Hickories Park. 11. Rise. (the battered women's shelter) Thank you Howard Seymour for this list, each of these institutions deserve our consideration, but there might be others that our membership might also think of. For our November and December meetings I am asking that our members bring non-perishable food items that we can deliver to Rural Ministry Food Bank in time for the holidays. Tioga Region will remain a strong influence in Tioga County!

If a new region is formed there will be room for more members also. You all know the reason you joined Tioga Region, there is room for more people who enjoy their cars as you do! This is your club, you know people who feel as you do about their cars. Invite them to become active members of the worlds most respected club dedicated to the best hobby!!!!
