Summer’s Here!!! The long wait is over, it is now time to get out on the road with our fun cars. Remember Our 2009 Show?

There are many opportunities to drive our cars this summer. Just a short drive from any of your homes is the Coats 4 Kids cruise in at Owego that will be going on all summer long each Saturday. This program is our opportunity to help children who might not have a warm coat stay comfortable this winter. It is not necessary to provide used or new coats to help as just the presence of our cars will bring attention to the over all program. I have seen a small response to this program already by people who are not arriving in a collector car. We are going to hold our first tour July 14, 2012, this outing will be our trip to French Azilium in Pennsylvania. This historic location, between Wyalusing and Towanda Pennsylvania is now a State of Pennsyl-

vania Historical Park with a few reproductions of the buildings the French settlers created in the late 1700’s. A fifteen minute video, created by students of a high school sophomore class, tells of the plans to escape the terror of the French Revolution by Loyalists to the royal family, and their failed hope to create a safe haven for Marie Antoinette and her children . The drive to this site will be along some of the scenic and wooded secondary roads of Northern Pennsylvania. There are tow stops planned along the way. The first being a Country Cabin gift and antique shop where we will have a chance to also learn about decorative pond management. The second stop will be at the Wyalusing Hotel for a light lunch. The menu will be a choice of Tuna Salad Croissant, Turkey Supper Melt, or Crispy Chicken

Salad. The sandwiches will include chips and pickle and all meals will include non-alcohol beverages. The price will be $9.00 plus tax and 18% gratuity. From The hotel we will continue to the historic park. Where we will have the guided tour for a price of just $3.00 per person. After leaving French Azilium we will continue north through Wysox, where we have planned our fuel stop, and then north on Pennsylvania 187 to Nichols New York. There is a small winery on this route where we can make a short stop before continuing to Nichols where we will find Perry’s Ice Cream waiting. The tour can end at this location or we can continue to Owego for a Chicken Supper at the cruise in. This tour will begin at the Big Dipper Ice Cream shop in Apalachin, New York at 9:00AM.

final plans have not as yet been made. The first of these future events is being planned by Howard and Emily. They are looking into a tour to Saratoga Springs in September. This is proposed to be an overnight tour starting September 29 to arrive in time for the cruise-in Spectacular for the New England Concours d’ Elegance and returning September 30, 2012 so we might see the Concours itself. The second of these future tours is being planned by Joe Vaglica and will be a mystery tour much like the leaf peeping tour we took last year. We have a lot of fun planned for you this summer. It is time to polish up the old buggies and put on your traveling clothes so you can enjoy all the adventures that are in store!

For the last several months Cheryl and I have been meeting with George Simon, President of Iroquois Region, And Carol and Bob Sidel, President of Onaquaga Region, with the intent of bringing our three clubs more involved with each other. It is our intention to help make the events we plan more open to all enthusiasts in the region while keeping our individual clubs intact. Each of these clubs have been informed of our intended events and have been invited to join us for these events. I have to admit that the idea for these meetings came from George first but I am enthusiastic in this concept. We are seeing more and more interest from other clubs for a co-operation between them and us and I see this as a plus for the collector car hobby as well as our club. As a result of these meetings I have begun to inform and invite other clubs to join us in our outings. We hope to see members of other clubs become more involved in our tours as well as our cruise-in and car show. If you know other enthusiasts who are not involved in a club or might be interested in our club why not make it a point to invite them to one or more of our events. You never know how many people out there might be looking for a club like ours.
