Creating Balance between Preserving Motivation and Achieving Results
As a leader, do you struggle with keeping your team members motivated while still holding on to high standards for performance and outcomes? If so, welcome to the club!
When you have important things to get done and stretch goals to be met, it is normal to want to push your team harder. This push can feel intimidating to some, particularly if you normally don’t intervene in projects or initiatives.

Employee motivation really comes from them, but as a leader, you have a role as well. When an employee can sense and understand their individual contributions to success, you have a greater chance to preserve that motivation.
You can’t always answer their question, “What’s in it for me?”. However, realize that question is top of mind for them. Employees want to understand how they can make a difference - not very different from what you want!
You will probably never have every team member as “all in”, however, if you get your key players to articulate their engagement and enthusiasm, they can hopefully bring others along in a positive way.
