Community Design | Fall 2023

The Galaxy Adventure Zone is a conceptual playground design with themes of outer space reflected in the play equipment and color scheme. This project is located in the East-Broadway neighborhood in Baltimore, MD at the Collington Square Recreation Center. Recently, the center was awarded a grant from the Partnership for Action Learning in Sustainability (PALS), propelling an initiative to redesign the existing playground. The overarching objectives of this project is to prioritize:

• Green infrastructure

• Inter-generational Spaces

• Shade Equity

• Community Safety

The Dewdrop Den

Green Infrastructure | Fall 2023

In collaboration with: Caleb Austin, Elia Choi, Grazelle Giray, and David Phan

The Dewdrop Den is part of an initiative called the REACH (Resilience, Education, Action, Climate and Habitats) Hub, an urban farm project at A. Mario Loiederman Middle School. The school has a dedicated magnet arts program and is located in a food insecure area. Completion of the REACH Hub will support 20 schools within a 2 mile radius.

This project aims to focus on the following objectives:

• Green infrastructure and energy harvesting;

• Address the runoff generated by both the tennis court, roof and urban farm;

• Integrate the artistic foundation of the school in the design.

Proposed Planting:

Acer saccharum

Bioretention shrubs/perennials:

• Echinacea purpurea

• Monarda didyma

• Chasmanthium latifolium

• Panicum virgatum

• Ilex verticillata

• Itea virginica

• Lobelia cardinalis

• Chelone glabra

• Liatris spicata

Architect of the Capitol

Planting Plan | Summer 2023

Last summer, I had the opportunity to work as a Horticulture Aide for the Architect of the Capitol. One of my assignments involved developing a presentation project on a horticulture-related topic. Being a landscape architecture major, I chose to focus on planting design at the Rayburn West Courtyard Terrace. The area is indefinitely closed for repairs, but I opted to create a planting plan for the plant beds if the area were to re-open. The existing conditions on site has meadow themed plantings of yarrow, California poppy and sunflowers. Additionally, the marble facade of the Rayburn House Office building reflects sunlight, creating a warm micro-climate. I developed a planting plan based on the Capitol Grounds Cultural Landscape Report, along with drought-tolerant perennials for easier maintenance.

Boothe Residence

Rendering | Summer to Fall 2023

As a landscape designer at Groundsmith Collective, I was tasked to develop renderings for a residential client. The purpose of these renderings was to transform the 2D master plan into a 3D visualization for the client’s comprehension. Utilizing Sketchup, I created the house from scratch, drawing inspiration from images captured during a previous site visit. Additionally, I developed the backyard patio, shed, and playground extension based off on the master plan. Lumion was then used to emulate a realistic style.
