Viro on energian suhteen ainutlaatuinen maa – suurin osa sähköenergiasta tuotetaaan maan itäosassa esiintyvästä maavarasta, palavakivestä. Kohtlan kaivospuisto suljettiin vuonna 2000, mutta tähän päivään saakka kaivoskeskus on säilynyt autenttisena ja siellä voi vierailla niin maanalaisessa osassa, ulkoalueella rakennelmineen kuin myös rikastuslinjalla, jossa palavan kiven lajittelu energeettisen arvon nostamiseksi tapahtui.
Estonia is a unique country from the viewpoint of energy – the majority of its electricity is produced from oil shale found in the eastern part of the country. Kohtla Mining Park is a mining complex which was closed down in 2000, but has still been preserved in its authentic form. Visitors are allowed to the underground mines, the outdoor territory with various facilities, and the enrichment workshop where oil shale used to be sorted to increase its energy value.
