Lord God Almighty, thank You for Your love for me. Thank You that You sent Your Son Jesus Christ to die for my sins. Please forgive me for all the sins I have committed against You. I believe that Jesus Christ is Lord and that He died on the cross and You raised Him from the dead on the third day. Please write my name in the Lamb’s book of life. Help me to live a life that is holy and pleasing unto You. In Jesus’ Name I pray and believe. Amen -

that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in Romanssalvation.10:9-10(NASB)

2 Corinthians 13:11 (NASB)

The tone of Paul’s letter may have seemed harsh to the church at Corinth and he even defends his authority saying, “By the meekness and gentleness of Christ, I appeal to you - I, Paul, who am ‘timid’ when face to face with you, but ‘bold’ when away! I beg you that when I come I may not have to be as bold as I expect to be toward some people who think that we live by the standards of this world.” 2

11 Finally, brothers and sisters, rejoice, mend your ways, be com forted, be like-minded, live in peace; and the God of love and peace will be with you.

This was not the first time I have made a mistake on a document and bit myself to it and felt completely depressed and helpless that there was nothing I could do to correct the anomaly. However, this time round, I learnt that I could actually make amends and it would be reflected on the recipients end in real time.

11 Now, brothers and sisters, be filled with joy. Try to make every thing right, and do what I have asked you to do. Agree with each oth er, and live in peace. Then the God of love and peace will be with you.

Aiming for Perfection B Liz Omondi | Email: timestodayke@gmail.com | image courtesy: marliescohen.com

As we journey in this world as Christians, we ought to aim perfection in every area of our lives. When we do a self audit, as Paul advises us in 2 Corinthians 13:5 “Look closely at yourselves. Test yourselves to see if you are living in the faith,” we should also make amends where we have fallen, with the help of the Holy Spirit who lives in us and helps us become maturer.

Corinthians 10:1-2 NIV

Paul finally concludes this second letter by advising the Corinthians to aim for perfection as a church in how they run their affairs. He says, “Finally, brothers, good-by. Aim for perfection, listen to my ap peal, be of one mind, live in peace. And the God of love and peace will be with you.” 2 Corinthians 13:11 NIV Other versions render the same passage as follows:

11 Finally, brethren, farewell. Become complete. Be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace will be with you. (NKJV)

My Devotional

I asked myself the question, ‘why didn’t I see this error before click ing send?’ What could I do to correct the error? By God’s grace, I was able to go back to the document, make the edits and update the amended document. Thankfully there was a way. And this gave me huge relief.

After reading and studying Paul’s second letter to the Corinthians, I realise that he has been counselling the Corinthians, giving them advice on several issues they were facing including being yoked with unbelievers, giving and warnings about false apostles. He was help ing them correct mistakes they were making as young a church that he had planted.

Minutes after clicking send, I reviewed the content of what I had sent and realised there was a mistake on the document. I could not retrieve the document, it was gone. It had reached the targeted audi ence. But I was so annoyed with myself.

11 Dear brothers and sisters,[c] I close my letter with these last words: Be joyful. Grow to maturity. Encourage each other. Live in harmony and peace. Then the God of love and peace will be with you. (NLT)

I began by talking about a mistake I realised I had made to a doc ument that I had sent electronically. The first time I made a similar mistake, I was totally depressed thinking I could not make amends. I felt that my reputation was on the line. However, with time, I learnt that I could actually amend a document that has already been pub lished and thus I became wiser. I try my best not to make such mis takes again, even though they could happen.

The Scripture says, “The steps of a good person are ordered by the Lord” (Psalm 37:23).

If you were not supposed to be there, you would not be there. God allowed it because it is necessary. You need that person or that closed door to reach your destiny. It is positioning you for something big ger. God does not always take us in a straight line from A to B to C. Sometimes He will take you from A to R then back to D.

“God, why is this happening? When are you going to change it?” We think it’s holding us back. He did not say just the good things - the times you are promoted, getting good breaks and things changing in your favour. What we do not always realize is the delays, friend’s betrayal are serving His plan.

It is not going to make sense. Sometimes it is going to look as though you are going backward. You have to trust Him when you do not understand. You have to know that everything is serving His plan. That is why the apostle Paul says, “All things work together for good for those who love the Lord” (Romans 8:28).

Bad Break: Coincidence or Planned?

We all have things happen to us that we don’t understand. Things take much longer than we think they should. Doors close. We work hard, but don’t get the promotion. The loan does not go through. A co-worker lies about us and it sets us back. It is easy to get frustrated and fight against what we do not like.

You are being developed, getting stronger through it. Without it you wouldn’t be prepared for what is coming. When you understand that everything serves His plan, you won’t live frustrated. You realize the closed door was not a bad break. It was God shutting the door. The person who walked away was not a coincedence.

My Inspiration

Perhaps you have prayed for years that God would move away the co-worker who gets on your nerves. Do you know why they are not moving? They are serving you. God is using them to rub off your rough edges. You are learning to be patient, kind, overlook offenses.

People may forget your name, but they will never forget how you made them feel, for encouraging actions are seldom forgotten.

The apostle Paul knew the value of encouragement, and that is why he wrote to the Thessalonians, exhorting them to “Encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing” (1 Thessalonians 5:11).

Try being more of an encourager and you will make two people happy: yourself and the one you encourage.

Greg’s method of encouragement was a lesson I will never forget. How import ant it is to be on the lookout for people doing something special, and then taking time on the spot to affirm the action.

As we walk through life, let’s be on the lookout for opportunities to honor those whom we see making a difference in people’s lives. Take a moment to recognize them, and where possible, do it in public when others can also join in the rec

Kylian Mbappe downplays Neymar feud, labelling Brazilian hot and cold

Paris Saint-Germain begin Champions League campaign against Juventus but start of competition marred by reports of feud between Neymar and Kylian Mbappe, who has been dragged into Paul and Mathias Pogba’s public falling out.

“I think in the interest of the selection too, I think we have a great competition.

But, speaking ahead of PSG’s Champions League Group H clash with Juventus, Mbappe revealed that while there were ups and downs in his relationship with Neymar there was still the utmost of respect for the Brazilian.

“But we’ve always had moments like this where sometimes we’ve had moments that were a bit colder and moments that were a bit hotter.

The forwards clashed in August’s win over Montpellier when Neymar prevented Mbappe, who had seen an earlier penalty saved, from taking another spot-kick, ignoring the order of penalty takers assigned by boss Christophe Galtier.

Sergio Ramos reportedly had to separate the two feuding stars in the dressing room after the match and Neymar’s liking of posts on social media poking fun at Mbappe’s missed penalty have only fanned speculation of unrest.

Mbappe dragged into Pogba brothers spat Mbappe has been dragged into another unfolding drama to hit French football, after Mathias Pogba’s claims his brother Paul had put a curse on the PSG striker.

The Pogba’s are embroiled in an public falling out, with Mathias promising to reveal “explosive” information about his brother and other players, and Paul claiming to have been the victim of extortion at the hands of his sibling.

“There are times, you’ll see, when we’re the best of friends and sometimes we don’t talk so much, it’s the nature of our relationship that’s like that.

“Afterwards, when you have two players with a strong character like that, life is not linear, it’s sure that sometimes things happen but it always remains in the respect and in the interest of PSG.” Asked who would take a penalty were PSG to win one against Juventus, Mbappe

Kylian Mbappe has played down reports of a feud between himself and Paris Saint-Germain team-mate Neymar.

“I think we’re not both closed [to discuss it]. If the match makes it Neymar who shoots, it will be Neymar who shoots, if the match makes it me who shoots, it will be me who shoots, there’s no problem on that.

“But there is a lot of respect, I have a lot of respect for the player he is, the player he represents and the importance he has in our team.

Asked whether the case involving the Pogba brothers would damage his rela tionship with Paul in the French squad, Mbappe said: “No, because I believe that today I prefer to trust the word of a teammate.

“You have to know how to share the cake and feel, it’s a question of feeling, and also know how to put water in your wine. We’ll see tomorrow but there’s no problem with that.”

“He called me and gave me his version of the facts. Today, as I speak, it is his word against his brother’s, so I will trust my teammate.

“Number one doesn’t mean that you take all the penalties. I don’t think that ex ists in any club, even less when you play with three players like that.

At the moment I think that he is in some problems, I think that it is not the moment to add to his problems and we will see how it goes, I am quite detached from all that.” sports.com/https://www.sky

“To talk about Neymar, this is the sixth year, I think we’ve always had a relation ship like this based on respect,” Mbappe told reporters.

added: “We’ll see, we’ll see, there’s always a discussion, we have to see how it goes during the match.
