Police Cadets
Appeal for leaders to inspire the next generation
Staffordshire Police is recruiting Cadet Leaders in Newcastle to organise and guide aspiring young people.

The Cadet units are made up of 13 to 18-yearolds. The scheme was launched in 2013 by the Staffordshire Commissioner for Police, Fire and Rescue and Crime, Matthew Ellis. It is delivered by Staffordshire Police and a host of volunteers, overseeing 200 Cadets countywide.
Cadet Leaders are volunteers who play a pivotal role in delivering the scheme, working alongside police officers and staff to run the weekly activities, usually between 6.30pm and 9pm on a set week day.
Clare Bee is one of 57 Cadet Leaders who began her journey as a volunteer in 2015. The role sees her organise outings with the local policing team, co-ordinate community projects and liaise with different departments from across the Force who educate the young people on the basics of policing. Most importantly Clares role centres on building mentoring relationships with her Cadets.
Clare said: As a Cadet Leader my role is really varied and I am there to provide guidance to young people and a listening ear to those who may have issues or concerns. The role has given me a better understanding of how events in a teenagers life can have a huge impact on their overall character and I now feel like Im able to identify those that might need that extra guidance and support. I love the feeling of helping cadets on their journey and seeing how they develop over time. All the police officers and staff I have worked with have made me feel like part of the team.
