FOOTBALL Newcastle-born goalkeeper represents England
Aprofessional footballer who was born in Newcastle-under-Lyme pulled on the England jersey to represent his country at the Under-21 European Championships last month.

Aaron Ramsdale was raised in Chesterton and his goalkeeping abilities earned him a move to Sheffield Uniteds youth academy in 2013.
The 22-year-old (pictured here playing for Bournemouth) is now the Blades first choice goalkeeper in the Premier League.
Ramsdale has represented England at Under18, Under-19, Under-20 and Under-21 level.
He qualified to participate in this years under-21 Championships, which are being held in Hungary and Slovenia, due to him being born after January 1, 1998 (as per tournament rules).
Ramsdale earned his first England Under-21 cap after the sides 4-0 win over Qatar in 2018.
He has gone on to earn 15 caps for his country at that age group with these championships being his first major youth international tournament with the Under-21s.
Ramsdale played in all three of Englands group games but unfortunately, the team were eliminated from the competition at this stage on goal difference.
An opening game 1-0 loss to Switzerland on March 25 was followed by a 2-0 defeat to Portugal three days later.
England did beat Croatia 2-1 in the final game but it was their opponents who reached the knock-out stages despite having the same number of points.
The Croats had attained a goal difference of -1, compared to Englands -2.
In the 15 matches Ramsdale has played in for England Under-21s, he has won 10, drawn two and lost three.
He has played 33 times for Sheffield United this season, helping them to reach the FA Cup quarter-finals.
