The music goes on all year long T

he Clearwater Jazz Holiday is a 44year tradition in the making. The beloved popular live music festival draws thousands of people worldwide to the Clearwater area each October. Over its impressive decades-long run, the Clearwater Jazz Holiday has invited an abundance of performers, from classic legends to up-andcoming talents, to take part in the world-class event. The Clearwater Jazz Holiday is made possible by the Clearwater Jazz Holiday Foundation, the nonprofit organization that produces and presents the annual festival. The Foundation’s board of directors, dedicated committee of volunteers, and corporate and strategic partners are also instrumental in bringing the Clearwater Jazz Holiday to the bay area, as well as accommodating and managing the large volume of visitors it brings to the city each year. But the fun doesn’t stop after the festival’s final song. This important longtime musical tradition also has a significant and ongoing economic and cultural impact in the community. The public’s attendance at and support of the Clearwater Jazz Holiday and similar events make the organization’s work throughout the year in jazz education and outreach possible. The Clearwater Jazz Holiday Foundation provides innovative music appreciation and instructional programs, unique performance opportunities, learning experiences, special funding and more. These initiatives, which include in-person programs and online resources, are inspiring and changing lives through music. “The cultural impact can be felt throughout the entire year,” said Steve Weinberger, CEO of the Clearwater Jazz Holiday Foundation. Some of the organization’s most popular yearround offerings include its outreach programs like History of Jazz and My Journey with Jazz. Lorem ipsum

23177108.indd 2

The former invites professional musicians into schools and other local groups, where they’re able to put on interactive musical performances and present the history of jazz to students and other members of the community. The latter is a music mentorship program geared towards local students in underserved communities. My Journey with Jazz connects these students with musicians and mentors in a game-type format, educating them about the legendary musicians and eras of jazz along the way, all culminating in students’ final presentations of what they’ve learned. “Students are rarely exposed to the type and quality of this particular outreach that not only educates but inspires musicianship and provides a special appreciation for jazz,” Weinberger said. For students who are already interested in jazz and are inspired to play, the Clearwater Jazz Holiday Foundation offers instructional programs that help them elevate their skills and make meaningful connections. The organization also provides young, emerging musicians with opportunities to showcase their talents through its Give Them a Stage program, and this year, through the Young Lions Next Gen Stage during the festival’s inaugural Daytime Downtown Celebration. Other Clearwater Jazz Holiday Foundation initiatives include the Young Lions Jazz Master Sessions, the Stop-Time Series with Frank Williams, instrument donations and lessons, the CJH Presents Music Series, and special funding for high school scholarships, jazz camps, and jazz programs. “I’d like to wholeheartedly thank the community for helping to support and lift up this tradition over the years. Just know that when you attend the Clearwater Jazz Holiday, you’re supporting meaningful year-round education and outreach in our community,” said Weinberger.
