Animals on display are kept in locked cages that provide up close, safe viewing for guests. Harmless snakes, tortoises and alligators are made available to attendees for hands on experiences. The display is manned by reptile professionals who are available to answer the many questions that such a display creates.

Contest Begins: 6:00 p.m.

A fun, exciting favorite returns as contestants compete in sawing, log rolling, pulpwood tossing and pole climbing. You won’t want to miss this one. Come cheer on your favorite or better yet, join the fun and see if you can become Lumberjack or Lumberjill of the Year! Coordinated by the Georgia Forestry Commission.

When: Sun., Sept. 18 • Where: Exhibit Hall Check-in: 6:00 p.m. • Begins: 6:30 p.m.

GENERAL RULES: 1) Contest is open only to adult Coweta County residents (19+ years).

2) There are two separate categories: • Professional: Make cakes for a living or collect monies for your cakes • Amateur: Decorate cakes for a hobby only, must not collect monies for cakes

GENERAL RULES 1) This contest is open to adults only (16+ years) and includes a women’s division.

2) Competitors are required to sign a harmless agreement prior to competing in the event.

3) Contestants will design a baked cake based on the following: • Cakes do not have to be baked from scratch. Using box mix is allowed, but cake must be baked by the contestant, not store bought.

• Cakes can be any shape (round or square) but cannot be any larger than a 9”x13” baking pan size. No more than two layers will be allowed (for practical reasons!)

3) Winners of each event will be assigned points as follows: 1st place - 5 points; 2nd place - 3 points; 3rd place - 1 point.

4) The order of events will be as follows:

5) The Lumberjack/Lumberjill with the most points at the end of the competition will win the Lumberjack/ Lumberjill of the Year trophy and $100 in prize money.

• Creativity of cake design – 35% • Appearance – 35%

• Technique – 15% • Use of materials – 15%

6) In case of a tie, tied entries will be re-judged in accordance with criteria listed above to determine final winner. Time limit will be 1 hour.

Youth are provided with plain gingerbread houses, frosting and decorations, given 30 minutes to decorate their gingerbread house and are judged on creativity and quality of work.

Contestants are given one hour to decorate a cake. Competitors provide their own baked cake, frosting and supplies needed to decorate. Entries are judged on appearance and decoration of the cake.

Competitors ages 10 and up are given an hour and a half to prepare and cook a provided Flat Iron steak. Steaks are judged on taste, ease of preparation and appearance of entry. All other ingredients and supplies are the responsibility of the competitor. Participant must provide his or her own grill for the competition.

Pick up a contest form at the Exhibit Building. While you enjoy all that the fair has to offer, fill out the form completely, then simply return it to the Scavenger Hunt box inside the Exhibit Building. All correctly-filled contest forms will be entered into a daily drawing for a chance to win gift cards to local restaurants and/or businesses. If you are a winner, you will be notified by phone or email. The contest is open to all ages and is free to enter.
