Heroes on horseback

melanie@newnan.com Three Coweta County students rode their way to victory in late October during the Special O l y m pi c s E q u e s t r i a n show in Gainesville, Ga. East Coweta M idd le School student JP Brandon , 1 2 ; E a s t Cowe t a Hig h School st udent Sarah Whitney, 17; and Northgate High School student Erin Jarrell, 21, competed in several categories at the games. The horseback riders showcased their skills in trail riding, unified riding, showmanship and equitation, which refers to the rider's position while mounted and ability to ride correctly. J. P. , Sa ra h a nd E r i n came home with several medals proudly hanging from their necks.
