NTH joins Plaid Friday celebration By MAGGIE BOWERS maggie@newnan.com The Newnan Times-Herald participated in the Plaid Friday shopping event Nov. 25, following the Thanksgiving holiday. The local paper offered guests snacks, a free subscription raffle and several assorted NTH products. The Main Street Newnan ornament, designed by features editor Maggie Bowers, was also available for purchase along with prints of the original drawing that inspired the 2016 Christmas ornament, and small nativity paintings all created by the artist. Sarah Phillips, a long-time Newnan resident, was the first to visit the building on Jefferson Street. Phillips said she came to the business especially to purchase this year’s ornament. Phillips has been collecting the city’s ornaments, produced annually in limited supply, for several years.

Seasonal events abound across town, many revolving around shopping, but for a few, music and theatre are where the real celebration begins. The Newnan Theatre Company offers both. “We like to offer b ot h a st a nd a rd production like ‘A Christmas Carol’ and something humorous or fun for t he s e a s on ,” Moore explained. “There is something for every audience, whether they are visiting as part of a local tradition or bringing the family just for a fun evening.” T he dow ntow n theatre, located at 2 4 F i r s t Av e n u e i n New na n , bega n the season with the
