In Municipal Transport Company in Tychy, was started delivery of 28 used CNG buses- Solaris Urbino 12 CNG. Solaris Bus & Coach company Has delivered the first 10 buses at the end of December. Next vehicles will be delivered till the end of this month, and the last ones – till the end of February. New buses will replace model Volvo B-10L CNG, which will be sold. cng.auto.pl

SPAIN

Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona (TMB) has increased the number of CNG buses to 376 units, 35% of all vehicles that serve the city lines and ten surrounding towns. The number has been swelled by the arrival of 80 new CNG buses throughout 2011, consisting of 52 standard models and 28 articulated, which have replaced diesel buses. The agreement between TMB and Gas Natural Fenosa provides for 204 more CNG buses to be added to the fleet by 2015, nearly half of the total fleet. Under the same agreement, Gas Natural Fenosa and TMB are developing a pioneering project for development of a hybrid natural gas-electric bus. The prototype, built on of an existing bus, is testing the adopted technical solutions aimed at reducing emissions and fuel consumption. At the end of the testing period, which lasts until early 2012, the companies will evaluate the feasibility of promoting mass production. The new buses meet Euro 6 requirements that come into effect in 2015.

GERMANY

Germany’s 900th CNG filling station is now officially operating, located in Berlin - reports Gibgas, an independent consumer portal. Gibgas managing director, Birgit Maria Wöber, says “the currently available infrastructure can provide basic care for the fuel CNG / Natural Gas in Germany, with reasonable planning the whole of Germany can now be driven using natural gas vehicles.” The report adds that 21% of all CNG filling stations offer a natural gas/biomethane mix to varying ratios. 38 stations offer pure biomethane which produces virtually no CO2 emissions.

Slovenia

Slovenia’s 1st CNG filling station has been opened in Ljubljana. At the same time the city has welcomed 20 new CNG powered public transport buses. The CNG filling station was co-financed by the European Union under the CIVITAS ELAN project. Ljubljana is one of 5 cities, the others being Ghent (Belgium), Zagreb (Croatia), Brno (Czech Republic)

and Porto (Portugal), that joined together in a project “to ‘mobilise’ our citizens by developing with their support clean mobility solutions for vital cities, ensuring health and access for all”. The new buses are 12 meter low-floor Iveco Irisbus Citelis city buses, employing vertical rear-mounted Cursor 8 CNG EEV, 6-cylinder line engines. Each bus has 8 roof-mounted cylinders by 155 liters, or 1240 liters total, sufficient for 400 kms of urban driving. FRANCE

Borel Systèmes, in Gières, eastern Grenoble, has dedicated itself to providing “The Green Way” for environmentally conscious motorists, through the provision of more than 20 models from a range of original equipment manufacturers, converted to CNG. Borel has recently added the new Peugeot Bipper – a compact utility vehicle (van) that has been specifically designed for urban businesses. The vehicle has been converted to bi-fuel (gasoline/CNG) operation with fully integrated under-floor tanks, preserving the 2.5m3 cargo space. The Bipper is capable of traveling 300 kms on CNG and an additional 150 kms on gasoline, and comes with a 2-year warranty. Borel also provides maintenance services for natural gas vehicles.

CZECH REP.

Czech Post, the largest postal operator in the Czech Republic, posted tender documentation on December 12, 2011 for the leasing of 412 public utility N1 vehicles powered by CNG. The successful tender will be selected based on lowest price. 3 vehicle types are specified: 182 light two-seater utility vehicles, made up of 115 light utility two-seater vehicles with about 3m3 cargo space and 67 light commercial five-seat vehicles (cars) with 0.5 to 2.5 m3 cargo space; and 230 light commercial vans with 10m3 cargo space. The specifications include full-service operation leasing over 60 months, for vehicles with total weight not exceeding 3,500 kg.

Canada/ INDIA

Dynetek Industries Ltd., a Canadian based manufacturer of alternative fuel storage and fuel systems, has executed a shareholders agreement with S.V. Greentech Private Limited, an affiliate of S.V. Energy Partnership to form Dynetek Cylinders India Pvt. Ltd. an Indian joint venture 49% owned by Dynetek and 51% owned by S.V. Greentech. The agreement fulfills a Letter of Intent executed in September 2010 to bring about the formation of the new company, aimed at garnering a share of the Indian lightweight CNG cylinder market. Mr. Douglas Pigot, Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors of Dynetek commented, “We are excited about the opportunity to capitalize on our first-mover advantage in India. Dynetek remains the only Type III manufacturer with systems certified for sale in India. Prototype systems have been provided to several leading municipal bus operators with very encouraging results that highlight the performance and long-term life cycle economic advantages of our Type III product over the currently used Type I alternatives.”

Thailand

Tata Motors Thailand is publicly launching its new CNG powered Tata Novus tractor-trailer and Tata Starbus CNG bus. The European standards-compliant Novus CNG model with 6-cylinder Doosan engine and turbo intercooler produces a maximum output of 340 hp at 2,100 rpm and maximum torque of 1,372 Nm at 1,260 rpm. It comes with 8 large CNG tanks able to hold 1,312 liters. India’s Tata Motors entered the market in Thailand in 2008.

BOLIVIA

According to data from the Conversion Implementing Entity for Natural Gas Vehicles (EECGNV), the CNG coverage in the Bolivian department closed in 2011 with more than 80%, followed by Santa Cruz (75%) and Oruro (50%). Cochabamba is one of the pioneers in natural gas use in its fleet. In 2012 it will be declared as the first department in the country with 100% of vehicles that run on this gaseous fuel.
