Technology

Puidukoda is a fast growing Estonian timber processing enterprise, founded in 1997 and situated in South-Estonia. Our main business activity is the production and sales of NORDIC Softwood (Nordic Spruce – Picea Abies, Nordic Pine – Pinus Sylvestris, Siberian Larch – Larix Sibirica) Planed Timber and Profiled Boards.

Wood, plastic and metal residue generated in the production process is being recycled 100%.

Line 1

Profiled boards and C18/C24 construction timber produced by Puidukoda are in accordance with CE regulations EN14081-1:2005 and EN14915:2006.

Trade Mark

Puidukoda is operating with 2 hightech, flexible and fully automated production lines including sorting, cross-cutting and shrink-wrapping, erected in 2004 and fully renovated in 2010 and in 2014.

“Wood For Life” is a trade mark used by Puidukoda since 2009 on all packaging including plastic covers and thermo-foil.

We offer several treatment and value-adding possibilities – surface coating (painting and lacquering), cross-cutting to fixed lengths. endmatching and labelling.

Products marked with “Puidukoda – Wood For Life” trade mark stand for High-Quality Nordic Softwood, outstanding planing quality and reasonable price !

Sawn timber that is being used as raw material is High-Quality Nordic Softwood.

Since 2010 April we are producing B and C quality products with yellowcolored thermo-foil “ECO-quality”.

Osmose linseed oil In cooperation with Hansacom Ltd. we offer the finishing of timber with Osmose natural linseed oil as an alternative to industrial painting. Oil treatment protects the wood from humidity and UV-radiation and gives it a lasting shade that is not possible to obtain with pressure impregnation.

It is a treatment method widely spread in Scandinavia, which has proven itself in the northern climate and now it has arrived in Estonia.

The oiling is done by using the autoclave method but instead of chemical wood protection agent, the wood is deep-impregnated with a natural heated linseed oil that gives the wood a brown walnut shade. The linseed oil that has become significantly more viscose with heating will be pushed deep into the wood with high pressure in the autoclave. Compared to manual oiling this gives the wood significantly better durability, weather resistance and a longer maintenance period (15–25 years, depending on the application). For soft wood types (spruce/pine) preliminary pressure impregnation is recommended (especially for decking boards), that protects it from bluing, mould and fungi. Naturally strong species (larch) doesn't require additional treatment prior to oiling.
