Lifeguards These girls qualified as lifeguards during the weeklong, very tough See-and-Sand Lifeguard Selection course in Hermanus. Mental and physical strength and endurance was required to face the challenges of long runs, swimming in icy cold water with whales and jumping off high cliffs in rough seas. UNISA Music Exams These Rhenishers participated in the UNISA practical music exams. Proudly South African Nine Rhenishers were invited to sing the National Anthem at the Spar opposite Paul Roos on Wednesday 2 October. Orange River A group of Rhenishers braved the cold waters of the Orange River during the September holidays for a fun-filled adventure on the rapids.

Comic Competition From 31 August to 14 September a group of seventeen learners from nine different African countries ventured on a trip to Heidelberg, Germany, for a cartoon workshop. All participants of this workshop had previously drawn a cartoon about conflict, in German, which was then rated by a jury panel from the German Goethe Institute. 40 Schools over 26 Sub-Saharan countries participated in the competition and Adrienne van der Merwe (Grade 11) received a gold medal and first place.
Rhythmic Gymnastics Savannah Petersen attended Boland trials for Rhythmic Gymnastics where she received a gold medal. Savannah went on to achieve her Boland Colours for this sport and she participated in the South African National Championships in Durban in September.
Visit to the Helderberg Nature Reserve Grade 10 Life Sciences learners ventured into the Helderberg Nature reserve for an in depth study of the biome present there.
