Do you know that there is a place in Brno where the whole world meets? It’s at the Centre for Foreigners JMK. A place where children become little theatre performers, creative souls, students, and mainly friends! The Centre, in partnership with UNICEF, brings a wide variety of activities for children of foreigners of all ages and their parents.
Treading the Boards We have regular theatre workshops for children who enjoy the spotlight and who also wish to improve their communication skills. Children of all ages, from first graders to teenagers, will try out various acting methods, learn public speaking, increase their confidence, and last but not least, improve their body coordination. And the result? Short performances that will amaze many viewers! The children, guided by
an experienced teacher, are currently preparing a play inspired by The Little Prince, which they enjoy immensely.
Tuesdays Belong to Education and Wednesdays to Fun
Moms & Kids Club
The tutoring club for pupilsforeigners in the second level of elementary schools is scheduled every Tuesday. In this club, pupils can get help and discuss things from a subject they don’t understand or things that they need to practice. The club is led by students from the faculty of education of Masaryk University and its objective is to help foreigners to overcome the difficulties that they encounter in Czech schools. The club helps with any subjects, but most often you will hear Czech, math, and biology being explained. Are you struggling with your homework? The tutoring club will help you. We have a club where parents with children up to the age of 3 can come and talk with others. The club is operated by a therapist, dula, and parenthood specialist. Each week parents of all nationalities come and talk about various topics, such as self-care and how to find time for yourself, everyday activities with children, important tips on how to handle basic children illnesses, eating habits, and parenting styles. The club is thus not only a way to exchange practical information, but mainly offers space to share the joy and challenges of parenthood and to look for the right balance in the everyday life of parents.

And that’s not all! The Centre will organize a whole plethora of other activities for children and youth. Creative workshops, business courses, Czech language lessons, summer day camps and joint tours and trips to nature.
