“THE TRUTH” Today the Truth is relevant based on your perception. Today Republicans, Democrats and even religious churches all claiming to have the Truth. We have let the TV, the internet and the movies teach us what Truth is. According to God’s word, when you twist the Truth, you create wickedness. Jo.8:32-47 Jesus confronts wickedness dressed up as religion. Vs. 32 “And ye shall know the Truth and the Truth shall make you free.” It’s not Truth alone that sets you free, it’s the Truth that you know that’s sets you free. Then the religious Jews claimed their birthright; “we are Abraham’s seed.” Just like some religious people today claiming their membership to a church. Vs.37 “I know that ye are Abraham’s seed; but ye seek to kill me, because my word has no place in you.” Implying that you may be from Abraham’s seed (church member) but you are not Abraham’s spiritual sons (born again believer). Vs.38 “I speak that which I have seen with my father; and ye do that which ye have seen with your father.” Implying there are two different fathers. Vs. 39 “…If ye were Abraham’s children (sons) ye would do the works of Abraham.” Vs. 40 “But now you seek to kill me, because I have told you the Truth.” Vs. 41 “Ye do the deeds of your father.” Vs. 42 “If God was your father, you would love me.” Vs. 43 “Why do ye not understand my speech? Because ye cannot hear my words.’ Vs. 44 “Ye are of your father the devil, and the lust of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the Truth, because he is a liar.” Vs. 45 “…I tell you the Truth, ye believe me not.” Vs. 47 “He that is of God hears God’s words; ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God!” 1 Cor.2:14 “But the natural man receives not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him; neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.”

MARCH 2020

Col.2:8 “Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world and not after Christ.” Watch out for self-help books and the opinions of others. One can be a member of a religious church and not be born again, saved, washed in the blood of Christ. Matt.7:20 “Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.” Don’t judge me by my appearance, or whether you like me or not, judge me by my fruit! Until next time, keep your face in the wind and your kickstand up. To be found faithful, Pastor Ron

DODGING THE ROADKILL

BEATING THE BLUES By Hank Bonecutter

I slipped into a “funk” a couple of years after I retired from broadcasting and suddenly the phone stopped ringing, people I thought were my friends, weren’t. I convinced myself that I wasn’t “all that” and before I knew it, I could hardly get out of bed in the mornings. I hated everyone and everything and I didn’t have a very high opinion of myself.

If you’ve been following my blog from the beginning, you know the story of how I came to be a biker. A friend of mine asked me to pick him up from the local Harley dealership for lunch, and when they wheeled his motorcycle out of the service department, I asked, “you have a motorcycle?” He said, “everybody you know has a motorcycle!”

My family had no clue. I put on a “good face” around them, but to be honest, they really don’t know what to do. Your friends don’t know what to do and to be honest, most of them don’t care and some of them are glad you’re struggling.

I was suffering from depression at the time. My life changed when I bought a motorcycle. This was radical. This was extreme. The risks were real. It was life changing. With over 150,000 miles in less than four years, I wouldn’t change a thing.

The motorcycle changed all of that.

This is the time of the year where it’s easy to slip into a “funk” and start to feel a little depressed. Shorter days, colder temperatures, the holidays and all of the pressure associated with it and all of a sudden, you’re feeling pretty “blue.”

I started traveling. I met some INCREDIBLE people. People who don’t want anything from me. I needed a change of direction. I needed to do something I never thought I would do.

I’m not the least bit ashamed to share my story and I hear from people all the time who are relieved to hear someone talk about it, because they’re going through the same thing. I instantly felt better once I got it off my chest and I’ve received TONS of encouragement ever since. I’m not an expert and I don’t proclaim to be, but I’ve been down that road and I’m better for it. You’re not alone. The brain is a powerful thing, and if we let it, it can turn against us. Having joy and happiness in your life is not something that comes easy. We’ve been told, “you can’t do that” or “don’t do that” or “that’s not going to work.” We’ve been taught to fail until we take a leap of faith and trust our instincts to be different. To be the “winner” we’ve known we are all along. When you have too much time on your hands, and you’re not as busy as you should be, you tend to think negative thoughts and start doing things you normally wouldn’t do. Maybe too much to drink or smoke. Maybe spending time with people who do nothing to enhance your life and are more than willing to participate in your “pity party.” MARCH 2020

I bought a motorcycle. Now, I’m not suggesting that everyone do that, but what I AM suggesting is that you find something you’re passionate about. I don’t care what it is. Something that you can claim for yourself. Fishing, painting, working out, chores around the house, SOMETHING to occupy your brain and your body. Get your endorphins going and do something you enjoy. Don’t be afraid to confront the idea that you don’t feel quite right, but understand, YOU are the only one who can change it and rest assured, you’re NOT alone. More people than you think are going through the same thing. People you work with. People you go to church with. People you see everyday. You’re NOT alone. Depression is a real thing but it doesn’t have to control your life. Take pride in who you are and challenge yourself in some way. Don’t be afraid to take risks or try something new. Life is good, but it comes at you fast. Be encouraged and enjoy the ride.

Bowie – Male, 1 year. I’m a sweet energetic boy that would love to be your couch buddy. I’ll play with anyone. I’d love to meet you and your family. If you have another dog, bring them too so I can meet them as well. I’m heartworm negative and absolutely ready to be a part of your family. Darla – Female, 5 years. If you ask the dog walkers, I’m as mellow as mellow can be. I listen really well and am super gentle. I’d love to meet you and your family. If you have another dog, bring them too so I can meet them as well. I’m heartworm negative and ready for my new home and family. Dee Dee – Female, 1 year. I’m a sweet young girl that loves attention. I want to run and play with everyone. I like kids and other dogs. I’d love to meet you and your family. If you have another dog, bring them too so I can meet them as well. I’m heartworm negative and absolutely ready to be a part of your family! Jax – Male, 5.5 years. I’m a laid back boy that would love a home with plenty of couch room. I’m definitely big boy. I like other cats and older children, but I’m not patience with small children. I was adopted before, but tragedy caused me to be returned. I’m FIV/FeLV negative and ready for a family of my own. Jeff – Male, 1.5years. I’m a happy boy that loves attention and walks. I can be really sweet and calm too. I need to meet any future dog brothers or sisters, so I’d know we’d be best friends. I walk great on a leash and play great in a fenced yard. Let’s have a playtime! 8

Oppa – Male. Oppa is one of Cheatham County’s longest term shelter dogs! This little buddy has been waiting a very long time to find his forever. He originally came in as a shy little fella that had a really hard time meeting new people and needed slow introductions. Oppa has become a very stable, confident little dog with outstanding manners, excellent leash skills, knows lots of tricks and his ball skills are over the top! However, Oppa’s numbers one favorite thing is to simply BE with his favorite people after a nice long afternoon of playing. Anyone would be privileged to have a dog of this caliber by their side! Oppa should not live with cats and he can be very dog selective at times so a meet and greet would be required. So far, he’s been more interested in the ladies. Probably not a fan of living with other male dogs but he’s been very respectful. We think he’s progressing beautifully and has even enjoyed a play group with other dogs! Sean – Male, 1.5 years. I’m an awesome and friendly boy that loves to give kisses. I love playing with other cats and am the first one to meet anyone new. I am FIV/FeLV negative and ready to go home. I am a volunteer favorite. Can I be your favorite too? Thor – Male, 5 years. He is a playful buddy that would love a large yard and plenty of time to play. Thor has been waiting for his human longer than we expected he would. (He must be waiting for someone extra special! That’s usually the case). This handsome boy is absolutely. He’s a fun dog that’s quite confident and proud. He would be honored to enjoy your company for a while if you’d like to come out and meet the very handsome and stately, Sir Thor. Titan – Male, 1 year. I’m an active boy that has a lot of energy to burn. Hiking, jogging, basically any outdoor sports, I’m so ready to be your pal. I prefer all the attention to myself, so I would do better in a home where I’m the only 4 legged and can get all of your attention. I’m heartworm negative and so excited to be a part of your family.

BIG DADDY’S WOOD FIRED - BRICK OVEN PIZZERIA

T

By Ron Giddis he Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge and Sevierville area has so many restaurants where you can get a good pizza. But if you want the best, you’ll try Big Daddy’s Pizzeria.

For consecutive years they have been the winner of “Best Pizza” in the Smokies by “Trip Advisor”. So what makes them the best? At the heart of Big Daddy’s is a 550 degree wood-fired flame inside of a one-of-a-kind brick oven. Their pizza starts with handcrafted dough that is pulled by their own “pizzeoli”. It is then topped with one of their made in house sauces, a wide variety of toppings and the freshest ingredients. They are so committed to freshness that there isn’t a freezer on the premises. Once you have had one of these classic Neapolitan style, crispy crust pizzas, you won’t be satisfied with any other. They also have a great variety of appetizers. The wood-fired roasted wings were great. Once they finish cooking in the woodfired brick oven, the wings are coated with a delicious sweet honey sauce. One of the specialty pies is a

MARCH 2020

Meatball Mania Pie. The made in house meatballs were so good they listed them with the appetizers too. They are served in a house made marinara sauce with all their favorite cheeses and some crostini’s for mopping up the extra sauce. After all of that, if you still have room, they have some great desserts. The Tropical Cheesecake is very delicious. It tastes like a creamy Pina’ Colada. They also have three flavors of Cannoli’s with in house made Cannoli filling: Chocolate Chip, Carmel Pretzel and Cookies- n- Cream. Bottled and Draft Beer along with Wine by the glass or by the bottle are also available. Big Daddy’s has been serving the best pizza in the Smokies going on 9 years and have three locations: 1820 Parkway in Sevierville, 3053 Parkway in Pigeon Forge and 714 River Road in Gatlinburg. For more information and a look at their menu, you can find them at www.bigdaddyspizzeria.net. And great news for those of us that “ride to eat”, the Pigeon Forge location has motorcycle parking at the front door next to the patio! Visit this place once and I’m sure you’ll go back. If you are out riding to eat and see us, please come up and tell us your favorite places to go when you’re hungry and thirsty. “Will Ride to Eat” will be an ongoing article in Thunder Roads® Magazine of Tennessee/Kentucky and we want to put the spotlight on the great history and variety of Tennessee and Kentucky’s biker friendly establishments.

ZOOLUMINATION – NASHVILLE ZOO

T

he winter of 2019-20 was not a good time to go to China! However, the Nashville Zoo brought a piece of China there. From November through early February the Xigong Lantern Culture Industry Group created a massive lighted display, including Chinese features, a Santa’s Workshop Village, realistic animals, and brilliant flowers, all created of silk and chinaware on a metal framework. Lion King is also portrayed. Judy and I had seen their work in Charleston, SC, but that was in the daylight and nothing like the night viewing. Xigong Culture has created shows around the world and is highly respected. We were told that the zoo will welcome the display back next year. Although I normally feature natural scenes in this series, I think this exhibit qualifies as beauty in America. The Xigong Group hand makes the displays in Xigong, China and then assembles them at sites around the world. Their work was exhibited during the G20 Summit in Hamburg Germany, Gilroy gardens, San Francisco, Edinburgh Zoo, Dublin Zoo, Gaillac France, among others. Nashville is fortunate to be included in this elite company. Some of the favorite works include the welcoming entrance, the Temple of Heaven, the Tea Set, all of the animal displays and, of course, the 300 foot dragon. For comparison purposes I have included pictures of the REAL Temple of Heaven and one of its protective lions taken during our trip to China in 2016. If you are near Nashville next year or one of the other upcoming US exhibits, I suggest that you visit. It is like nothing else I’ve seen. Ride Safe and Have Fun!! Cooper 12 12

Bullet Points

SIG SAUER P365 SAS – REVIEW

H

appy March, fellow bikers. Hopefully you have been able to get plenty of time in the saddle since my last installment of Bullet Points. SIG Sauer is one of the finest pistol manufacturers in the world. Your ever-lovable Grey Beard Biker owns many P-series pistols and several of their 1911s. The P365 was released on January 8, 2018 to very positive reviews. It was a unique pistol for the legendary manufacturer of semi-automatic pistols and rifles, in that, unlike their other compact 9mm, the P938, this pistol in its stock form comes with a double-stack magazine which boasts 10 rounds. If you carry with one in the chamber, which everyone should do, this compact pistol has 11 rounds of 9mm firepower in a gun smaller than my hand. Introducing the SAS version of the P365

SIG Sauer has manufactured the SAS version of their popular P-series pistols for years. SAS stands for SIG Anti Snag, which provides snag free draws by smoothing out the slide and the side controls. And while the P365 is the best-selling pistol in the United States, the SAS model was not released until October 2, 2019. As you will learn, this may be one of the very best, non-Legion, SIG pistols made today. When I was looking at P365 pistols, I looked at the stand P365, the P365 SAS and their new P365 XL. My plan was to buy the standard model, because the XL was larger than I wanted for a compact carry. But when I looked down the slide of the SAS, and saw there were no standard tritium sights, I was taken aback. The P365 SAS has a unique flush mounted tritium sight which brings the sight axis down nearly to the barrel. This inevitably makes the pistol more accurate – which I confirmed on the range. It is essentially foolproof. You have the pistol lined up properly when the tritium dot appears. Granted, in a serious self-defense situation, which is more often than not at very close range, you will not be lining up the sights – you will be pointing and shooting! Disassembly Taking down a P365 is like every other P-series – a proverbial piece of cake. Remove the magazine and cycle the slide to eject the cartridge from the chamber (double-check by cycling the slide again – you can never be too careful). Remember, a pistol without a round in the chamber is nothing more than a damn paperweight in a self-defense situation. The next step is to lock the slide back – and the P365 SAS is different here – you use either a medium size flat screwdriver – or my preferred tool, a nickel – to turn the takedown screw clockwise a half turn. There is no takedown lever on the SAS version of the P365. Release the slide and turn it upside down. Depress the stainless-steel guide rod and spring to remove it. Lift the chamber side of the barrel up and slide it backwards out of the muzzle – removing the barrel. The gun is torn down and can be cleaned. To reassemble the pistol, reverse these steps. The SAS takedown screw rotates automatically to the lock position when you release the slide so you can put your nickel away once you remove the slide. Cool beans!

Shooting the P365 SAS My overall impressions were very positive with this newest offering of the P-series SAS pistol line. Sight acquisition is superb, which was a pleasant surprise. I was a bit concerned about the flush mounted sight, but it may be better than standard combat sights. Time will tell for me as I carry this pistol over a longer period of time. I have larger hands. Other compact 9mm and .380 ACP pistols I have tried are uncomfortable for me to shoot. My hand tends to swallow these up and the muzzle lift during rapid fire often proved to cause inaccuracy for follow up shots. This was true for my last compact carry 9mm – the SIG P938. This gun was a beautiful example of what a compact concealed carry firearm should be. But it was a bit small for my hands and the muzzle lift was noticeable. The double stack magazine allows for more comfort with my gargantuan mitts and the muzzle life was much less noticeable due to the fact that SIG ported the barrel and slide on the SAS model – an ingenious idea which is long overdue for smaller caliber compact pistols or larger caliber models like my 10mm P220 SIG. Based on my search of SIG Sauer’s website, the P365 SAS is the only vented model pistol they make. The P365 SAS proved to be both accurate and easy to shoot. Unlike most compact strikerfired pistols, this model has a very crisp trigger and operates single action only (SAO). The trigger pull weight is not listed on their website, but I would judge it to be in the 5.5-6 pound range – with 6 pounds being what other reviewers have measured. With the vented barrel, follow up shots were quite accurate. Summary If you are looking for a compact concealed carry pistol, I would highly recommend the SIG Sauer P365 SAS. The retail price on this model is $580, compared to the P365 standard at $500 and the XL at $590. For the extra $80, I would highly recommend the SAS because of the sights and the vented barrel. You will have to compare the size of the XL to the other P365 models to see which you like better. I also purchased the extended 12 round magazine as it fits my hands better and provides 13 rounds of 9mm power. Until next time, ride often and keep the shiny side down! MYRTLE AND PEARL’S BIG ADVENTURES “They Ride Like Girls”

By Scott High Christy Baker “Myrtle” and Leanna Larsen “Pearl” first met at work, they both work in EMS for the Nashville Fire Department. When they discovered they both ride, they talked about riding together for a long time but it wasn’t until they both ended up at the Thunder Beach Rally in Panama City Beach several years ago that they finally got to ride together. When they got home from Thunder Beach they started riding and hanging out with each other and becoming best friends. Pearl started riding almost from birth, she had a Honda 50 as a kid and literally grew up riding. Myrtle started riding back seat with an old boyfriend and quickly knew she wanted to ride her own bike and soon she ended up on a Softail Custom. A few years ago they decided to plan a big group ride to the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, but before the trip, all of the other

people planning to go backed out so Myrtle and Pearl loaded their bikes down and hit the road by themselves, up to Sturgis, around the Black Hills, down to Colorado and back home. They had so much fun and gained so much confidence on their first trip they decided to go on a trip every summer and they really didn’t need or want anyone else going with them. The next trip they actually planned to go by themselves, so they loaded their street glides, Lucy and Big Show, left fiancé Randy and Husband Todd behind, and rode southwest into Mississippi across the Lake Ponchartrain Causeway to New Orleans then west through Texas and into New Mexico and Arizona to see the Grand Canyon, then to Nevada, California, and Utah stopping to see the sights or visit friends and family along the way. One place they really wanted to go was Truth or Consequences New Mexico, they both said “with a name like that who doesn’t want to go?”

Sitting and listening to these two ladies tell stories and re-live memories they’ve made together is a lot of fun, you can see the excitement on their faces, when one of them starts to tell a story and the other jumps in or sometimes they both end up saying the same thing or finish each other’s sentences. The bond they have through the miles they have shared will be with them forever. They have met some great people and had some really cool things happen to them. Like when they stopped to eat the first afternoon of their second trip in Mississippi, two women pulled in behind them in a car and told them they were coming from TN and had been following them for a long time and thought it was so cool that two women were on a motorcycle trip by themselves. The women in the car were headed to Sturgis MS to a Bike Rally and they invited Myrtle and Pearl to stop by so that’s where they camped the first night. That’s kinda how it goes with these two, they head out with some destinations and a loose plan in mind, and then go with the flow, and they have a lot of fun doing it. On their last trip up the east coast in New York City, they pulled into a Harley Shop to ask if they could park their bikes while they visited the Statue of Liberty, after finding out the gates at the shop would be locked by the time they got back, one of the shop guys offered to let them leave their bikes in his driveway while they were in town sightseeing. So far Myrtle and Pearl have ridden in 39 states together, this year they are going to some states they’ve already been to but they are planning another cross country trip in 2021 to hit all of the states they haven’t ridden together in yet, then they will be able to say they’ve ridden in all of the lower 48 states together… they “ride like girls” but they’ve seen more of this country than most people and I bet we all wish we could ride like these girls! NCOM BIKER NEWSBYTES Compiled & Edited by Bill Bish, National Coalition of Motorcyclists (NCOM)

THE AIM/NCOM MOTORCYCLE E-NEWS SERVICE is brought to you by Aid to Injured Motorcyclists (A.I.M.) and the National Coalition of Motorcyclists (NCOM), and is sponsored by the Law Offices of Richard M. Lester. If you’ve been involved in any kind of accident, call us at 1-(800) ON-A-BIKE or visit www.ON-A-BIKE.com. MOTORCYCLIST ADVISORY COUNCIL REAUTHORIZATION ACTION On February 3, 2020, U.S. Senators Ron Johnson (R-WI) and Gary Peters (D-MI) introduced S.3249 as a bipartisan companion to House bill H.R.5234, calling for the Secretary of Transportation to reauthorize the Motorcyclist Advisory Council established under the FAST Act of 2015. The “Motorcyclist Advisory Council Reauthorization Act” (S.3249 & H.R.5234) calls for a 12-member council, including members of the motorcycling community, to “advise the Secretary, the Administrator of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, and the Administrator of the Federal Highway Administration regarding transportation safety issues of concern to motorcyclists, including (A) barrier design; (B) road design, construction, and maintenance practices; and (C) the architecture and implementation of intelligent transportation system technologies.” ‘AUTOCYCLES’ DEFY FEDERAL DEFINITION With the advent of “three-wheel light-duty vehicles, also called ‘Autocycles’, as a method of passenger transportation,” states across the country have attempted to legislate their licensure and operation, as well as establish a definition of the vehicle and registration protocol, which has prompted concern “that a patchwork of laws and inconsistent regulations now exists, absent a Federal standard for autocycles, thereby causing confusion and hindering the growth of this emerging industry.” Although 38 states have established new regulations and definitions for autocycles, under Federal regulations they are currently classified as motorcycles though they have different physical and operational characteristics than traditional automobiles and motorcycles. Last year, the U.S. Congress directed the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) to conduct research on the appropriate safety standards and existing regulations that apply to autocycles, and in a January 2020 “Report to Congress on the Federal and State Regulatory Status of Autocycles”, NHTSA determined that because they do not use the term “autocycle” in its regulations, it currently “regulates all autocycles the same as conventional motorcycles,” which “are subject to the same minimum Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) that are applicable to motorcycles, rather than those FMVSS that are applicable to light vehicles (e.g., passenger cars and light trucks),” such as seat belts, air bags, etc. Regarding the inconsistency of state laws affecting autocycles; “NHTSA does not regulate vehicle usage or operation on roads as this takes place at the State and local level. Vehicle registration, driver licensing, and rider equipment regulations such as whether 24 24

helmets are required for motorcycle operation are among the areas regulated directly by individual States.” Therefore, any regulatory uniformity from the federal level doesn’t seem to be forthcoming any time soon, leaving individual states to determine whether autocycles will be registered as motorcycles and whether operators will be required to have a motorcycle endorsement on their drivers license, or be required to wear a helmet or not, among other pending issues. CONGRESSIONAL LEGISLATION TO INCREASE FUNDING FOR RECREATIONAL TRAILS

On February 6, 2020 a group of Representatives introduced bipartisan legislation to increase funding for the Recreational Trails Program (RTP). introduced in House, H.R. 5797, the “Recreational Trails Full Funding Act of 2020”, would more than double financial support for the RTP. Since 1991, RTP has provided funding to states to develop and maintain outdoor recreational trails, allowing millions of Americans and their families to enjoy activities such as off-roading, snowmobiling, hiking, bicycling, and cross-country skiing, “creating countless opportunities for motorized recreation and humanpowered experiences,” says Rep. John Curtis (R-UT) a sponsor of the measure. The bill will more than double RTP funding to at least $250 million by requiring the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) to provide a current estimate of the amount of gas taxes paid by non-highway recreational users. The program is modeled after the Highway Trust Fund and is funded through taxes paid on gasoline used to fuel snowmobiles, ATVs, and other recreational vehicles that do not use highways. The program is currently funded at $84 million annually, which is substantially less than is collected in taxes on fuel used by these vehicles. POW/MIA FLAG LEGISLATION INTRODUCED IN KENTUCKY Last November we reported in NCOM Biker Newsbytes that President Donald Trump had signed the National POW/MIA Flag Act into law; a bipartisan bill to require the POW/MIA Flag be displayed whenever the American flag is displayed on prominent federal properties to honor the more than 82,000 Americans who are listed as Prisoners of War (POW), Missing in Action (MIA), or otherwise unaccounted for from our nation's past wars and conflicts. While the federal legislation appropriately regards federal buildings and memorials, Kentucky Motorcycle Association (KMA/KBA.com) member Danny “Greasy” Belcher, director of Task Force Omega of KY, has taken steps to ensure that the flag will fly atop State properties as well. Belcher lobbied Kentucky legislators to introduce Senate Bill 104, “to designate the POW/MIA flag as the state's symbol of concern and commitment to achieving the fullest possible accounting of United States military personnel who, having been prisoners of war or missing in action, still remain unaccounted for or those who in the future may become prisoners of war, missing in action, or otherwise unaccounted for as a result of hostile action; specify locations, dates, and circumstances under which the flag shall be displayed.” The recognizable black and white POW-MIA flag you see flying all across the country has a special meaning to Kentuckians, as it

was created by Bowling Green resident Mary Hoff in 1970 after her husband’s plane was shot down over Laos during the Vietnam War. Call (800) 372-7181 and ask Kentucky Senators to co-sponsor S.B.104; “It is the least we can do for our POW/MIAs,” says Greasy. DISTRACTED DRIVING TARGETED BY LAWMAKERS Nearly four in 10 drivers admit to looking at their phones while driving, according to a AAA survey, and distracted driving has become a leading cause of highway accidents and fatalities nationwide. Nearly every state has enacted laws against texting while driving, while many others have banned handheld wireless communications devices altogether, such as a new law that recently went into effect in Florida. Perhaps 2020 will be a major year for distracted driver bills sweeping through state legislatures, as Utah (H.B.101) and Colorado (S.B.65) have already introduced measures this year to require drivers to use hands-free devices, and motorcycle groups in those states say it’s about time! On Tuesday, February 11, the Colorado Senate Transportation and Energy Committee passed Senate Bill 65 unanimously, on a 5-tonothing vote. Lawmakers in Ohio recently extended the definition of “distracted” to include “any activity that is not necessary for the vehicle’s operation and that impairs the driver’s ability to drive safely,” including eating, handing things, or even changing the radio station could all result in a ticket. Maryland has taken a different approach, introducing H.B.721/ S.B.512 “Prohibiting an individual from causing the serious physical injury or death of a vulnerable individual as a result of the individual operating a vehicle in a careless or distracted manner.”

legal in rush hour traffic situations in 2018. Now, Arizona and Virginia could soon join California on the elite list of lane-splittingfriendly states. Proposals to legalize lane splitting both in Arizona and Virginia were recently submitted to those states’ legislative bodies. The Arizona bill, House Bill 2285 introduced in January by Representative and Arizona House Transportation Committee chairman Noel Campbell, a former Navy and U.S. Forest Service pilot and a motorcycle tour guide, would allow riders to lane split on roads of more than one lane in the same direction with a speed limit of 45 mph or less and when traffic is cruising at no more than 15 mph. In Virginia, Rep. Tony Wilt proposed a similar measure, House Bill 1236, to allow motorcyclists to lane split on roads of more than one lane in the same direction but traffic speed would have to be under 10 mph and motorcycles would be limited to a maximum speed of 20 mph. Over the past few years, a slew of bills have been introduced to legalize lane splitting and filtering, including; Connecticut, where lawmakers are actively considering Senate Bill 629 to make both lane splitting and filtering explicitly legal. In Oregon, House Bill 2314 was referred to the Speaker's desk. If approved, motorcycles could travel between cars on roadways where the speed limit is 50mph or greater, and traffic is moving at 10mph or slower. Washington state reintroduced Senate Bill 5254 on January 13, 2020 and it's currently in committee. In Canada, the Toronto city council is considering Agenda Item MM43.53 to allow filtering throughout the city, as well as allowing motorcycles to “use reserved lanes” in some specific areas of the city.

STATES SEEK TO LEGALIZE LANE SPLITTING As of January 2020, California is the only U.S. state that formally authorizes motorcyclists to lane split. Utah passed a law to allow riders to lane filter in 2019, while Hawaii made shoulder surfing MARCH 2020

Into a Belfast pub comes Paddy Murphy, looking like he’d just been run over by a train. His arm is in a sling, his nose is broken, his face is cut and bruised and he’s walking with a limp. “What happened to you?” asks Sean, the bartender. “Jamie O’Conner and me had a fight,” says Paddy. “That little shite, O’Conner,” says Sean, “He couldn’t do that to you, he must have had something in his hand.” “That he did,” says Paddy, “a shovel is what he had, and a terrible beatin’ he gave me with it.” “Well,” says Sean, “you should have defended yourself, didn’t you have something in your hand?” That I did,” said Paddy. “Jamie O’Conner’s wife’s breast, and a thing of beauty it was, but useless in a fight.” -------------------------------------------------------------A young newlywed couple are on honeymoon and his new bride goes off to resort spa while the hubby decides to lay out nude on their private deck and catch some sun. He falls asleep and looks down at his entire front totally sunburned, especially his penis. He immediately calls his sister as his Doctor is closed for the weekend. His sister advises him to soak his penis in a saucer of cold milk several times throughout the day. His young, blonde bride walks into the room to find him with his willy in the saucer of milk. “F**k me” she yells. “I always wondered how y’all reloaded those dang things.” -------------------------------------------------------------So the same newlywed couple are having their first fight and he proclaims “I never called you stupid! You’re the one that used that word.” It’s simply that when I asked you how to spell Mississippi, and you then asked me if I was talking about the river or the state, it just totally caught me off guard, is all. -------------------------------------------------------------Again, the same newlywed couple return from the honeymoon and the wife comes out of the bathroom and her new groom says, ‘What’s the matter sweetie, you look shocked.” His new bride sits down and looks very seriously at him and replies, “I just took 4 pregnancy tests and all 4 read Positive. The husband is overjoyed. The young bride looks at him and says, “How in the world are we ever going to feed 4 new babies? 26 26

This new state of the art technology super market opened near my house so I went in to check it out. It has an automatic water mister to keep all the produce fresh and just before the mister comes on, you hear the sound of distant gentle thunder and the smell of fresh rain. When you approached the cold milk cases, you hear the sound of cows mooing and experience the scent of fresh hay. When you approach the egg case, you hear the hens cluck and cackle, and the air is filled with the pleasing aroma of bacon and eggs frying. The aisle where the popcorn is has the smell of fresh buttered popcorn, just like at the movies. I don’t want to discuss it, but I no longer buy toilet paper there any more. --------------------------------------------------------------A woman lost three panties in her house and blamed the maid in front of her husband. The maid looked at the husband and said, “Sir, tell her she is wrong. You know I never wear panties.” --------------------------------------------------------------Brenda O’Malley is home making dinner, as usual, when Tim Finnegan arrives at her door. “Brenda, may I come in?” he asks. “I’ve somethin’ to tell ya”. “Of course you can come in, you’re always welcome, Tim. But where’s my husband?” “That’s what I’m here to be telling ya, Brenda.” There was an accident down at the Guinness Brewery...” “Oh, God no!” cries Brenda. “Please don’t tell me.” “I must, Brenda. Your husband Shamus is dead and gone. I’m sorry. Finally, she looked up at Tim. “How did it happen, Tim?” “It was terrible, Brenda. He fell into a vat of Guinness Stout and drowned.” “Oh my dear Jesus! But you must tell me truth, Tim. Did he at least go quickly?” “Well, Brenda... no. In fact, he got out three times to piss.” -------------------------------------------------------------Mickey Malone is a wee bit drunk and gets a tattoo that says I Love You on his willy. Mickey proudly goes home to show his wife Colleen his new tatt. Colleen shakes her head, “There ya’ go yet again Mickey, always tryin’ to put words in me mouth.”

by Bob “Bulldog” Ousley

Dear Fellow Veterans and Patriots of Tennessee and Kentucky: Finally, the coup against our elected President has taken a giant step back with his acquittal of the unconstitutional charges brought by the Congressional Democrats. Now I’m waiting for the results of Attorney General Barr’s investigation of how all of this got started and to see who the convened grand jury brings up on charges. While we wait, like you, I’ve been bombarded by all the intense drama going on in the Democrat party. The more I look at the Democrats who are running the more I’m reminded of a group of characters out of a comic book. They all look and sound like they came out of a Russian ghetto, wearing Lenin glasses, worn suits and promising trillions of dollars in free stuff while hiding that the bill is going to come out of our pockets!!! Their campaigns seem remarkably similar to the auto industry’s dance with electric cars. I saw that Ford is coming out with an electric Mustang. Like slapping the Mustang name on a Prius is going to get them some kind of great enthusiasm for a Prius with Mustang tail lights. You can put lipstick on a pig but it’s still a pig. Electric cars cost from $25,000 up to $250,000 and they don’t emit CO2… Well, that’s not exactly true. The cars don’t emit CO2 but they run on electricity stored in on-board batteries and the electrical grid that charges the batteries is substantially generated by burning coal. That is why the electricity doesn’t cost a bazillion dollars. Coal is efficient and fairly cheap but when you burn coal you get CO2. The environmentalists say electric vehicles will save the planet but it’s really just a choice between gas and coal. So, who is floating out the bag of horse s_ _t and expecting everyone to swallow it?? Why is it only America can save the planet? Why isn’t the rest of the world buying electric cars to save the planet? The Democrats are pushing free government run health care that will cost trillions of dollars but they say its free?!?! The government will pay for it but doesn’t the government get their money from us?? Democrats say they’ll take the money from rich corporations but corporations don’t pay for anything. They just raise their

34 34

prices to us in order to pay what the government takes from them. Again, we pick up the bill. It’s really the cost of government that keeps us poor. Government doesn’t make a profit from anything. The government is a cost and you and I pay for it. A smaller government that takes less money from “we the people” is a smaller drain on the economy. The more the government stays out of our lives the more we are free to make our money and keep it. That is what makes our lives better but the Democrats want you to believe you have to get free stuff from government in order to live. What a bunch of BS. Its like the electric vehicle stuff. They want to tell you how much healthier you and the world will be when we drive electric vehicles. What they skip over is the cost of vehicles that mostly max out at about 300 miles in range between full charging’s and you have to go light on the accelerator in order to manage the charge to get the whole 300 miles. When you have to charge the battery, you’re looking at a minimum of 30 minutes to get a charge that will get you home or up to an 8 to 12-hour charge to go another 300 miles. It’s roughly 1300 miles from Nashville to Sturgis South Dakota. It will take over 5 days to get to Sturgis by electric car. An electric Harley gets a 40-minute charge every 50 miles and it will still take you 5 days to get to Sturgis. I’ve made the run in two on my bike. There is a bottom-line reality when it comes to politicians and electric cars. Both will try to make you do stupid things that are good for them and not so good for you. Who wants free health care that takes all your money and who wants to stop every hour to plug into a recharge station? I get anxious if I’m at a gas station longer than 2 minutes. I sure don’t want free health care if my taxes are going up and I have to get permission from some politician before I use it!! Turn off the TV and start thinking about this stuff. We need to get our brains back before it’s too late. Vote for America and Self Sufficiency!!! Keep the faith. Thank a vet for the freedoms we still enjoy and support politicians who will bring back the ones we’ve lost. Fly the flag of the people and be proud you’re an American. Hug the families of those still missing because their quest for closure has not ended. Live the good life and ride for those who can’t. Thank you for reading my rants. Hope my opinions don’t offend anyone, but we all should be grateful for the right to have free opinions.
