THUNDERBIRD SCHOOL OF GLOBAL MANAGEMENT

Since joining Arizona State University in 2015, Thunderbird embarked on what is perhaps the greatest turnaround in higher education history. We set out to reclaim the best of the School’s remarkable history and legacy while also rebuilding the prestige and foundations of the institution that, for decades, offered among the world’s most-coveted, top-ranked global management education. The tenacity to enact that change is a direct result of the boundless passion we all share in seeking to advance sustainable and equitable prosperity and peace worldwide. That same Thunderbird tenacity and passion also led us to the grand opening of our new Global Headquarters in Downtown Phoenix – a professional hub at the center of the United States fifth largest city, the capital of a state vigorously engaged in seeking to grow international trade and business opportunities as well as non-profit activity.
In looking to the future, Thunderbird is being called to duty to transform the world. Our beloved institution was founded on a set of timeless goals and fundamental values: connecting people, enterprises, governments, and cultures around the world. We continue to innovate and expand, made possible through our expansive network of regional Centers of Excellence across the globe, from Bogota to Geneva, from Nairobi to London, with many more to come. Beyond the globe, we want to look even further outward: One day, we will all come together to celebrate the dream of the Thunderbird Academy of Intergalactic Leadership, and then who knows what incredible accomplishments lie beyond even that dream?
Thunderbird is a mindset, unbound by any person, place or idea, and so Thunderbird is not just global, not just intergalactic - it is a spirit and a driving force, ever-present. Our School has developed a reputation for creating innovative programs that change people’s lives. Through the support of our donors, we will create a future defined by inclusiveness, respect, peace and prosperity, and together we will continue to change the world, and beyond.
Dr. Sanjeev Khagram Director General and DeanSince 1946, Thunderbird has been synonymous with leadership in international business education.

“The new global headquarters provides a great symbol of a great institution. Even though it’s a new building, it’s got a lot of history, and it creates a catalyst for the next evolution of Thunderbird’s history”
– Marius Haas ’91, New Founder, namesake of the Haas Digital Global ForumWhile celebrating and honoring Thunderbird’s alumni and historic past, our new Global Headquarters embraces the future – a future we imagine through the vision , aspiration, and philanthropic investment of our global community. Just as Lieutenant General Barton Kyle Yount did in 1946, we engaged a small group of leaders to make this next chapter for Thunderbird possible.
Generous alumni and friends came together as a new group of visionaries – our New Founders – and made this future possible. Each made a gift of $1 million in support of the Thunderbird Global Headquarters. The names of our New Founders are prominently displayed in the Global Headquarters’ lobby on the New Founder’s Ring.
