It’s hard to believe that another year has passed, and we are writing another welcome letter for the bull sale. We were humbled by the amount of people and interest we had at last year’s sale and want to thank everyone that watched, bid or attended - it is much appreciated! We want it to be a fun event so people look forward to attending each year. This our deepest set of bulls we have ever offered. The group of Fireball sons are exceptional, he has been such a consistent breeder for us the four years we used him. We have three direct Showman 338 sons that will grab your attention, and our new bull, HF Prestige 216J, has exceeded our expectations! We have an excellent group of bulls and three heifers that he sired on offer as well. Again, we welcome Danny and Lorinda from RR
Forty Angus. They are bringing an impressive set of bulls and we really enjoy working with them! We encourage everyone to stop by the farm anytime and view the bull pen. The coffee is always on. If you can’t make it to the sale in person, Yancy Crosier with VJV will be part of the sales crew, we are excited to have Yancy attend. The Bohrson Marketing team is also available, you can phone them for their appraisal of the bulls and females on offer and Mark and the DLMS team will be broadcasting the sale via internet. We look forward to meeting and hearing from you!

Welcome to the 2024 edition of the Rio Grande Angus Bull and Female Sale. We are proud and excited to welcome all to the beautiful sale facility of Clint and Anna Collins and family to take in their annual event! The Rio Grande program is built heavily around the power of cow families. Their emphasis on purchasing herd bulls out of donor quality dams is very evident and the cow herd backing the bulls on offer are stronguddered, good-footed and easy doing. The bulls available for purchase are easy doing, with calving ease and performance built in. The females up for grabs are from the heart of their program and are a great example of

what the sires to the bulls produce as they are sisters to the bulls available. Again this year, we are happy to have a great offering from the RR Forty program and believe they are a great compliment to the Rio Grande operation. We highly encourage you to make plans to take in this great set of cattle. Be sure to visit with Clint, Anna or Danny prior about the cattle. The Showman 338 bull is known for his high performance, calving ease, muscle shape, volume and all-around eye appeal. We really like the combination of the Showman 338 and HF 141Z and feel they are a perfect mating. This Tiger daughter is from the Hamilton Farms donor program, with many high sellers under her belt. She has extremely good feet and udder, a cow with extra length and is feminine as well. These two flush brothers, High N Dry 2301 and Adrenalize 2302 (facing page), have shown excellent performance and are extremely sound. They have tons of natural muscle and thickness, depth and length of spine, while having tons of eye appeal, style, masculinity and docility.

Reference Sire HF PRESTIGE 216J Funny story..Farmers do vacuum! A highlight for us is getting the Hamilton Farms catalog. But, before handing it over, I requested Clint help in the house for a few hours! lol After Clint had the catalog it didn’t take him long and he said “We want this one - HF Prestige 216JET.” More times than not…success breeds success. It was the HF Tibbie 22C that caught Clint’s eye. He’s followed what she’s done. We have other 22C offspring in our herd and we always want more. A foundational female, an excellent milker, with an excellent udder, excellent foot quality; paired with Showman 338, who we love. We knew that he would sire bulls and females that we could market and cattlemen would appreciate - not to mention retaining females for ourselves.

Our Amazing Kids T Y L E R
Tyler enjoys his job at Cenovus. We always appreciate the time we spend with Tyler, he has a sharp mind and good sense of humour and helping nature. We are thankful for his help processing cattle, doing chores while we are away, and all the many hours he helped during harvest! Sydney has had a busy year at the accounting and bookkeeping company she works at in Grande Prairie. It’s obviously a well-suited job for her as she has a gift for being organized and excellent with numbers. Sydney has helped us with processing cattle each time this year and it’s been nice having everything recorded perfectly as we go! During harvest she puts in a lot of hours helping as well, it’s always so nice to have the young crew. It seems like you can’t tire them out, and she has whipped supper up in short notice like nobody’s business as well!

Wyatt finished his last year of the electrical program also getting his Red Seal Certification. He has been working this last year in Victoria for a company that builds and does renovations on some pretty cool houses. It was easy for him to find a job there - he is a smart and hard worker. We enjoy his visits home and hearing of all their adventures there! We have enjoyed getting to know Kenzie and happy to see her on their visits home. She is no stranger to farm work and processing cattle , their visits back she is quick to jump in and help with whatever is going on here. Tyler & Sydney and Faith visited Wyatt and Kenzie in Victoria this summer. We can’t wait to visit as well!
Faith is in her grade 12 year at LCBI in Outlook, Saskatchewan. A highlight again this year for Faith was going on the LCBI missions trip back to Mexico and serving at the orphanage over spring break. Since August Faith has been working for Carmen Millham, the Outlook veterinarian and owner of HMS Hi-Cliffe a Purebred polled Hereford cattle operation. He had an excellent fall with his cattle going to Stockade, Farm Fair, and Agribition. It was a fantastic fall for Faith working with the Millham family and she loved getting to show in all the supreme qualifing shows. Quite a bit of life revolves around cattle for Faith and it was a fun summer making the trip to CJA Showdown in Swift Current and going to the Perdue cattle show on the way by as well. Tate Vermette goes to LCBI as well and enjoys working with the cattle. We were happy to have him join us in Josephburg, Perdue, and CJA in Swift Current; as well as the time we had with him at the farm in August, also attending the Dawson Creek fall fair. Tate has Red Angus cattle and Faith is working on converting him over to the black side! It was a lot of fun to see them working together.
Our Fantastic Help ASHLEY It was a busy year for Ashley and his wife, Chloe, with the addition of a son! Two kids now (a daughter and a son) keeps them hopping! Ashley helped put the crop in and helped at harvest. This was the longest fall ever and we appreciated Ashley’s help with moving manure, feeding cows and we left him in charge while we managed to sneak away to Outlook, Edmonton and Regina to see Faith, also enjoying time to tour cattle operations along the way.
NOAH, WESTON & BOWEN This year we were pretty pleased to have the 3 Goodbrand boys work with us! Noah graduates this year, time flies! We were happy to have him helping with haying, fencing, mechanic jobs, halter breaking, mowing and harvest to list a few. Weston is in grade 10 and he is a handy guy as well! Helping with day to day jobs, fixing wind panels and feeding cows. And we were happy to have younger brother Bowen to help with some harvest jobs, maintenance and clean up/weed whipping around all the yards and cattle handling areas. He helped brush bulls so they were clean for pictures, and helped on picture day! I likely missed a ton of jobs they helped with but I know for sure we were really happy to have them help and they are honest hardworking guys!

Reference Sire GREENWOOD FIREBALL JJP 69F JJP 69F has been a standout sire since he arrived here. The consistency of his calves is amazing and that’s why we have continued to use him year after year. He has daughters here that are having their second calves and are making wonderful mothers. His foot makeup is exceptional. At the age of 6 his feet are as good as any I have seen. His sire HA Cowboy Up was very popular in the US he added a lot of volume and muscle expression to his calves. This will be the last year for Fireball sons.

On behalf of Lorinda and myself we would like to welcome you to the Third Annual Rio Grande Bull and Female Sale. We are super excited to be a part of the sale with the amazing Collins Family. As I write this, it is snowing and we just came through a week of -30 and we are about half done calving the early cows, hoping that we kept the ears on most of the calves born during it. 2023 has been a very interesting year for most, especially for myself. I decided to move
on from my job after 20 years at Keddies and Flaman’s and take on a sales position at Douglas Lake Equipment. Rain was limited and hay and pasture was hard to come by, cereal silage had the rain at the right time and produced good volume. Grain crops in the Tee Pee area were some of the best we have ever seen. Cattle prices were at an all-time high. We chose to presell our commercial steers in August by video sale for October delivery. Our April steers sold for over $2,300/head. Then came the issue of finding feed and baling straw to keep the cows for the winter. The fall of 2023 brought incredibly warm temps, which helped out incredibly with the feed supply and allowed cows to graze later and naturally eat less. We built a coverall to help with calving and had an amazing group of friends and neighbors spend multiple weekends help build it. I would like to thank Pat and Cory Stark, Heath Barnfield, Brady Fraser, Donnie Mcnally, Jim Peel and Rylan Stark. I’m pretty sure if I asked any of them to help build another, they would all be busy. We truly thank you and could not have got it done it without you. Our goal at RR Forty Angus is simple, to

Fortress 01L has been a standout since the day he was born. We purchased his dam from the Latimer family at Remitall Farms. When Brady and I took a road trip and looked at her sire, Peak Dot Colossal 828G, I knew I wanted daughters from him. So I purchased two. He was born unassisted at 87lbs and never stopped growing. His September 10 weight was 854lbs. An absolute amazing job for his dam’s first calf. His sire, SAV Checkmate, is a calving ease bull from the legendary SAV program. He is stout-made, thick and deepbodied with a moderate frame and definitely will add pounds. This Colossal female has outdone herself on this bull calf and I wish I had more like her.

Deputy 05L is a brother to 01L. When I looked at his Peak Dot Colossal 828G sired mother, 87J, I knew she was coming home with me. 05L was born at 67lbs and 10 minutes after he was born, when I went to bring him inside, he was standing in the sleigh. He is slightly bigger-framed than his brother. He is very correct-made. He is a calving ease option. Once again, these colossal females out did themselves and both had heifer calves this year.

His mother 111J is a very moderate frame, feminine cow who gets noticed on every herd tour. He should work well in the heifer pen and should produce some great heifers to retain in your herd. Midnight is one of the younger calves in our offering. His sire is named Midnight and he was also born right at 12am, so his name is fitting. I really like his mother 232H, she is a good, honest-made cow. I wish they all looked like her. She is a little larger-framed cow. We used his sire on first calvers and had no troubles, but definitely bigger birthweights than we thought. I would like to see him used on cows to add some performance.

Purebred Heifers
As you read thru the footnotes in our catalog one thing should stand out - we put a lot of importance on the females! We chose three purebred females all sired by our HF Prestige 216J ET bull. He is a Showman 338 x HF Tibbie 22C. We really like what the Schiefelbein Showman Bull brings to the table and absolutely giddy about the dam, the HF Tibbie 22C donor cow. It’s always hard to part with females and genetics that you know have worked excellent for you. These three are foundational females - “cash cows” - while still being practical cattle. Here is your opportunity to acquire something a little different. These three females are halter broke as well.
