WE TRULY LOVE OUR COMMUNITY. In the words of Margaret J. Wheatley, “There is no power for change greater than a community discovering what it cares about.” Here at Three20 Recovery, we believe recovery is possible through many means. That’s why we offer programs, services, and resources as diverse as the people we serve.

One member might need a medication-assisted recovery resource like Vivitrol to help break a cycle of drinking while he rediscovers his love for playing the harmonica. Another might require a neurofeedback tool like BrainPaint to help change a pattern of depression as she learns to love herself better through lifting weights. No matter their journey, we’re here to love them through it.

Our community is built around a life-changing purpose.

The rise of substance use disorder and mental health issues is self-evident and concerning, but there is hope. Recovery is still happening in unique and innovative ways.

Our membership is full of people with powerful stories.

From the down-and-out turned up-and-coming to the “just needing more help” lifted beyond flourishing, our members have beautiful stories of hope, help, and healing.

We have the most hardworking and generous partners.

In the same way it takes a village to raise a child, it takes a community to heal a heart. Just one person saved from a addiction would be enough, but our partners strive for more.

PURPOSE

Great change and growth is best achieved when one has a strong sense of purpose. This can be true outside of recovery, but it is especially true within recovery. Creative outlets, a strong community, and achievable goals pave a fast road to health and well-being.

Research conducted by the American Art Therapy Association suggests that art therapy can lead to improvements in self-esteem and self-expression, which are important components of recovery. In one study, 84% of participants reported enhanced self-esteem after engaging in art therapy.

Many people use music as a coping mechanism to deal with stress, anxiety, and depressive symptoms. According to a survey conducted by the American Psychological Association, 61% of adults reported using music to manage stress.

Both indoor and outdoor cycling, as well as TRX suspension training, made up Three20 Recovery’s fitness sessions this year. Fitness sessions regularly evolve to keep members engaged and adapt to changing fitness trends.

Those with recovery coaches are 15% more likely to remain in recovery at two years than those who don’t. This demonstrates the effectiveness of adding recovery coaching alongside counseling and therapy.

Over 400 studies have been conducted showing that those who participate in a faith-based recovery program have a higher success rate, with 40-60% percent not returning to substance abuse. Faith helps people in recovery find meaning and purpose in their lives.

HOURS SPENT IN LIFE RECOVERY SERVICE

Wednesday night is our faith night at Three20 Recovery where members enjoy a meal, music and a recovery-focused message. Local pastors and people of faith present weekly services and groups specifically designed to support and inspire the recovery journey.

NUTRITIONAL MEALS WERE MADE

BY MEMBERS THIS YEAR

According to the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, around 20-50% of people dependent on alcohol have clinical malnutrition. Nearly four hundred nutritional meals were made in Three20 Recovery’s nutrition program this year. A balanced diet can help improve mood and memory, regain energy, and create mental clarity. Our nutrition program let’s members prepare and share meals while obtaining the knowledge to continue healthy eating habits.

TIMES LESS LIKELY TO RELAPSE AFTER USING VIVITROL

Vivitrol is a once-a-month injection that blocks the ability for the brain to receive the pleasure effects of opioids and alcohol. Individuals who use Vivitrol in combination with counseling to treat opioid addiction have 90% opioid-free weeks while those who do not have 35% opioid-free weeks.

That means those who use Vivitrol alongside rehabilitation and continuing therapy are seventeen times less likely to relapse compared to those who did not use Vivitrol.

BRAINPAINT SESSION SUCCESS RATE

BrainPaint, a neurofeedback software program utilized at Three20 Recovery, helps members recognize and retrain their brain patterns at an 85% success rate. The program helps improve the ability to focus, regulate behavior, and reduce impulsiveness, helping reduce relapse.

TRANSPORTATION OPPORTUNITIES GIVEN

Three20 Recovery provided over seven hundred free transportation opportunities to our members this year. Three20 Recovery members are offered free rideshare transportation to important legal, medical and recovery coaching appointments through rideshare services like Lyft and Uber.

Plugging in with a recovery coach, participating in programs, and consistently utilizing our open hours to work on things. He is always offering his time to help or volunteer when he can. The change and growth he’s made are evident and are so awesome to see.

After struggling for 40 years, attending many support groups, numerous hospitals, and endless pitfalls, I cannot stress how vital the support from my peers has been to my health this time around. Like a family, they stood by my side. They gained my trust and they held my hand. When I was at my lowest point, they assured me that I wasn’t going to fail. Through intimate and patient interactions, my newfound friends helped me regain my sanity, physical health, and spiritual life I never imagined possible. Today, I offer my time, myself, and my life to Three20 Recovery for helping me get my life back.

ROBERT When we first met Rob, he was exhausted, sad, frustrated, and upset with how his life was going. He was looking for a change.

He immediately started on his recovery journey. He kept showing up more and more to all the programs and coaching sessions and kept growing in his recovery in any way he could.

To say that he made a change is an understatement. Seeing him grow in the community and with his family has been a great blessing. From the time he came in, he started working to better himself and the people around him.

On January 14, 2023, I reached out to Three20 Recovery in need of help. I finally had enough of my lifestyle of alcohol addiction, lies, embarrassment, and hurting my loved ones.

Extremely nervous that I was going to be judged, and with my tail between my legs, I made my first visit. Within the first few minutes, I could tell this was where I needed to be. There was no judgment. I was treated with respect and, most of all, they listened to me about my problem. Today I can look at myself in the mirror, get compliments from others, improve my career, and strengthen the relationship with my family.

CIRCLES IN THE WIND

JOHN W. ANDERSON FOUNDATION

Circles in the Wind has been one of Three20 Recovery’s local supporters since opening our doors in 2019.

Circles in the Wind creates custom, works of art at their local Amish furniture shop. From donating spare wood for art projects to being a premiere sponsor of Ride for Recovery, we are so grateful for Circles in the Wind’s friendship.

In 2023, Three20 Recovery was awarded grant funding from the John W. Anderson foundation to support one of the biggest barriers reported by individuals in early recovery; transportation. This funding allowed us to get engaged members to important appointments, along with individual recovery coaching meetings to discuss long-term solutions.

CLEVELAND-CLIFFS Three20 Recovery is proud to have the support of Cleveland -Cliffs and grateful to support their employees, as well.

Examples of this partnership include participating in the steel mill’s annual Health Fair providing resources and support, as well as Cleveland-Cliff’s employees participating in Ride for Recovery, our annual fundraising event.

POSITIVE RECOVERY SOLUTIONS Positive Recovery Solutions is the second largest provider of Vivitrol in the country. They will move mountains, drive through snowstorms and work through global pandemics to ensure our patients do not miss their appointments.

Hosting the Vivitrol clinic on site ensures that patients are connected to needed services that compliment and support the medication.

IN GOOD COMPANY In Good Company staff have personally volunteered their time at all our fundraising events. For employees of IGC, helping communities and individuals thrive is the essence of their message. “We cannot forget to be charitable, and doing so is part of our collective, corporate personality. The attitude of service trickles down to everything we do.” says Jonathan Hicks, CPM of In Good Company.

DIVISION OF MENTAL HEALTH & ADDICTION The DMHA has been vital to the growth of Three20 Recovery.

Not only have they provided technical assistance, funding opportunities, and training support to us, they also have approved Three20 Recovery as a Certified Recovery Community Organization in 2022. This status affirms that we meet all state standards for recovery services and practices, as well as opens doors for additional funding sources.

HEROIN ANONYMOUS: CHESTERTON CHAPTER A few Three20 Recovery members recognized the lack of 12-step meetings in the area and worked together to register and start Northwest Indiana’s only Heroin Anonymous meeting. We were more than willing to support the newly formed group by providing a space to host weekly meetings. Starting as a small group of 2-3 individuals, the group has since grown immensely over the years.

PORTER COUNTY COMMUNITY FOUNDATION

INDIANA RECOVERY NETWORK

The PCCF awarded grant funding to Three20 Recovery to support an evidence-based neurofeedback program, BrainPaint. By reading brainwaves, BrainPaint is proven to help with a variety of mental health challenges such as substance use, PTSD, anxiety, sleep, etc.

Three20 Recovery and Indiana Recovery Network started their partnership in 2020 in response to Covid-19, initially starting as a Virtual Recovery Hub for NWI. Thanks to IRN, Three20 Recovery has been able to offer free of charge support services since 2020 to the NWI community.

We want to expand our harm reduction services, especially among veterans and the homeless. We’ve already impacted so many lives through our Harm Reduction Backpack Outreach. In 2024, we’re focused on expanding our harm reduction services and reducing overdose fatalities.
