MFG – Primary Processes

PRIMARY PROCESSES PRIMARY PROCESSES

The primary processes are cutting and threading. This is a process that is done on every work order we have:

There are two main processes for cutting, the bandsaw and auto shear.

The bandsaw, where we band bundles of steel and cut the bundle at one time. The bandsaw is primarily used for larger diameter bars.

The auto shear, is the second way we cut material. The auto shear is used to cut smaller diameter material at a much faster rate than the bandsaw.

There are two main processes for threading, roll thread and cut thread.

Roll threading is taking a bar with pitch diameter and squeezing the bar as it rolls through the dies to make threads. When roll threading you only use PITCH BAR.

Cut threading, is cutting the threads into the bar by removing material, you will use a full diameter bar. Cut thread is exactly like it sounds, you will be cutting the material to make the threads.

Manufacturing is more than just putting parts together. It’s coming up with ideas, testing principles, and perfecting the engineering, as well as final assembly.”
