Welcome to our 2022 brochure - designed and thoughtfully curated holidays with you in mind. We have included our popular holidays; Christian Studies, Walking & Creative breaks, Enjoying Music and the Salvation Army Week. There are some new faces included in our programme, some you may recognise! We are thrilled, if not a little starstruck, to have Pam Rhodes and Revd Cindy Kent as part of our Word & Worship Week in August and also delighted to have secured Revd Loraine Mellor and Revd Ashley Cooper not forgetting Simeon Wood and Chick & Margaret Yuill too. Adrian Plass, Tony Vino and Marilyn &Tracy from MBM were such a hit in 2021 we just had to invite them again.

We have brought back some traditional Summer Holiday Weeks with a coach excursion included and maybe an ice cream too - no donkey rides though!

Thornleigh is a happy, relaxed holiday destination, a safe place to holiday alone or with friends. All our rooms are ensuite, with highly acclaimed homemade wholesome food, a high standard of service, bright colourful lounges and dining areas. We are approximately 20 minutes from the M6 junction 36. Follow the A590 and then the B5277 (1st exit off the Meathop Roundabout ignore your SATNAV!) to Grange-over-Sands.

We are on The Esplanade facing Morecambe Bay with an entrance drive on the east side of the hotel. If travelling by train , change at Lancaster to Grange-over-Sands.

Thornleigh is 2/3 of a mile from the station.

Friends of Thornleigh

As a Friend we keep you up-to-date with all the news from Thornleigh several times a year. We ask for a small subscription (£20) to put towards a hotel project for the year. Upgrading the hotel (especially bedrooms), garden furniture, corridor & stair carpets and the outside stone work are just some of the future projects. Bursary Fund

Thornleigh holds a bursary fund from which we can offer or support someone who would benefit from a holiday here at Thornleigh, giving them a break from whatever challenging circumstances they are facing or indeed someone who has not had a holiday for a very long time, if ever. Donations are always most welcome especially since Covid-19. Please contact Jane: jane@thornleigh.org if you would like to make a donation and nominate someone.

Highway Trust Board

Thornleigh is supported by a board of trustees. If you are interested in becoming a trustee and feel you have the relevant skills then please drop us a line. Skills could include HR, Civil engineer/Property, fundraising & bid/grant writing. The board meets several times a year online and at least once a year in person.

Golden Anniversary

Thornleigh Hotel is celebrating 50 Years of Christian Hospitality in 2023.

Back in the early 70's Highway Trust Ltd decided they would like to purchase their own hotel so started looking for a property in areas just outside London... they found Thornleigh in Grange-over-Sands and bought it in 1973. Revd Philip Gascoigne from Lancashire was very much involved then and still comes on holiday with a group today.

Join amateur photographer, Revd Janet Heighton on this full board short break. The break includes two outings and a train ride to Arnside. A photography holiday with a difference, taking time to take in the details of God’s creation. All levels of experience welcome.

Learn how to take control of your camera and leave the auto setting behind. Martin is an ordained Baptist Minister and former Missionary to Brazil. He has worked in church planting and training men and women for ordination. 15 years ago he became a Life Coach out of his own experiences of poor mental health with the intent of helping others. His studies in Positive Psychology have enabled him to write “Happiness lessons” for a school; his training as an Accredited Mindfulness Teacher have enabled him to teach the skills of meditation.

For thirty years, Pam's been the familiar face of BBC Television's 'SONGS OF PRAISE', presenting programmes from tiny country churches to huge outside broadcasts. She's met everyone from The Pope to Dolly Parton, but her heart is in the sensitive interviews for which she's well-known as those she meets share their stories. Pam holds the role of Vice President of three major charities - The Church Army, The Leprosy Mission, and Livability, the largest Christian disability charity in the UK. She is also Patron of MHA and an Ambassador for Mercy Ships - as well as being actively involved in a whole range of other national and local projects. We are delighted to welcome Pam to Thornleigh.

Rev’d Cindy Kent. Presenter for Premier Christian Radio, appointed MBE for services to religious broadcasting. She is now semi-retired, but continues to live an extraordinary life. Nominated for being such an enthusiastic, energetic, passionate and fun vicar - a bit wicked too! - the church badly needs more of her infectious faith and Christian warmth.

terms & conditions Payment and acceptance of a deposit constitutes a legally binding contract. A non-refundable deposit of £80 per person per week is payable. Bookings made less than 4 weeks in advance require full payment at the time of booking. Balances should be paid 4 weeks prior to arrival.

Accessibility Thornleigh is an accessible hotel and provides a hearing loop system in the lounge. Guests unable to escape the hotel, in the case of an emergency, must be accompanied by a relative, friend or carer.

Arrival and Departure Accommodation is available from 3pm on the day of arrival and must be vacated by 10am on the day of departure. Cases can be stored with prior arrangement.

Cancellation Charges Sadly we have to apply charges to all cancellations.

We are a charity and late cancellations severely compromise our budget as well as depriving others of the opportunity to come on holiday. We therefore recommend you take out travel insurance or be prepared to bear the following charges: up to 8 weeks prior to the date of arrival, the non-refundable deposit only; less than 8 weeks, 50% of the total amount due; 100% within 4 weeks of the expected date of arrival.

Car Parking Thornleigh has limited car parking to the rear and along the side of the hotel. Car parking is entirely at the owner’s risk. EV charging, using a 13 volt outdoor plug socket, is available.

Dinner, Bed and Breakfast Our rate includes a three course dinner with coffee, served at 6.30pm, bed and breakfast served at 8.45am. A supper tray can be provided for late arrivals and a breakfast tray can be prepared for an early departure, with prior arrangement. No refunds or reductions can be made for meals or accommodation booked and not taken.

Dogs/Pets We do accept registered assistance dogs. No other pets are allowed.

Hosts Most of our package style holidays are led by a volunteer host who will organise social evenings, lead devotional times and say Grace before meals.

Insurance We would advise guests to take out appropriate insurance to cover their stay in the event of cancellation.

Methods of Payment Payment can be made by credit or debit card (except American Express). There is no surcharge for the use of credit cards. Alternatively you can send a cheque made payable to Highway Trust Limited or use BACS. Please phone for bank details.

Prices All prices stated on the package holidays are per person for our standard en-suite accommodation.

If you wish to upgrade to a Bay-view room the charges are £15 per room per night and, subject to availability, if you request a double bedded room for single occupancy, the supplement is £20 per night, £40 per night in a Bay-view room.

VAT

VAT at 20% is included in the prices shown but will be charged at any rate applicable at the time of payment for the holiday.
