Paul Thrift Meets with Fed Chairman Jerome Powell

On June 21, Paul Thrift, in his capacity as 2022/23 Chairman National Association of Home Builders Multifamily Leadership Board, was invited to discuss the current state of the multifamily market at the Federal Reserve. Paul met with Jerome Powell, Chairman of the Federal Reserve, and engaged in a healthy dialogue about the multifamily market. When asked about the meeting, Paul responded, “It was a great honor to be asked to present the state of the US multifamily market to the person in charge of our country’s monetary policy. I was able to give him a realtime and ground-level perspective of what we are experiencing in the multifamily market across the country. He was attentive, curious and had several engaging questions regarding the information I presented.”

Thompson Thrift Announces Three Executive-Level Promotions and Hires

In May 2023, Thompson Thrift announced two executive-level promotions and one executive-level new hire.

The two promotions were within Thompson Thrift Development, which oversees the company’s development and property management functions.

Dan Sink has been promoted to president and chief financial officer and Aimee

O’Connor has been promoted to the role of chief operating officer. Additionally, Thompson Thrift Construction, the dedicated construction arm for Thompson

Thrift’s multifamily business unit, announced that Kurt Stahl recently joined the company as chief operating officer.

TT Commercial Team Travels to Las Vegas, Nevada for 2023 ICSC Event

Thompson Thrift Commercial team members traveled to Las Vegas, NV, for the 2023 ICSC (International Council of Shopping Centers) event from Sunday, May 21 to Tuesday, May 23.

The team’s 1,500-square-foot booth hosted 88 meetings with companies ranging from small boutique brokerage firms to well-known retail chains, focused on new developments in Arizona, Florida, and Indiana.

Annual Spring Service Day

Over 175 team members came together for the Spring Serve Day on Thursday, April 27, helping to continue to transform the Next Step campus and surrounding neighborhood. The sounds of hammers, chainsaws, paint rollers, forklifts, and skid steers rang through the neighborhood as team members worked to install new windows and doors, paint, landscape, build a gazebo, clear and create a paver patio, and so much more! A total of 32 different projects were completed throughout the day.

Vision Trips

Thompson Thrift team members joined a Vision Trip to Mérida, Mexico, on April 21-25. The group traveled around the area, visiting eight churches and centers for children, and a women’s rehabilitation center.

While visiting the churches and centers, Thompson Thrift team members interacted with and ministered to hundreds of children. At each stop, our team members gave out toys and assisted in delivering and fitting 15 prosthetic legs to amputees who otherwise did not have access to prosthetics. Team members listened to testimonials from community members and enjoyed singing and dancing with each congregation.

Thompson Thrift Welcomes 36 Interns

for Summer 2023

Thompson Thrift’s 2023 interns are working across multiple departments in the Indianapolis, Terre Haute, and Denver offices. The interns are also on jobsites and communities in Indiana, Colorado, Michigan, and Florida. This summer’s class has 36 interns representing 11 different schools across the nation.

INTERNal Perspective

My name is Shelby, and I am one of the Thompson Thrift 2023 Interns working with the Capital Markets team. I am majoring in Marketing and Business Analytics at Indiana University, where I will be a senior this fall.

Before interning at Thompson Thrift, I never imagined myself working in real estate. After coming across the internship program, I researched the company and program and was immediately intrigued by the company culture. Looking back, I could not be happier with my decision to pursue an internship with Thompson Thrift. Every day I walk into the office, I am met with smiling faces and inspirational team members.

Sometimes you hear about internships full of busy work and mindless tasks. My time at Thompson Thrift could not be more different. Instead, I’ve had the opportunity to work on multiple marketing, communications, and partner relations projects. From the very start, I was surprised at how involved I was.

Since then, I’ve been able to sit in on countless business meetings, take lead on projects, and even pick the minds of top executives. I always feel a part of a team where my opinions are valued and my work is meaningful. At Thompson Thrift, I am gaining hands-on experience in an environment that wants to see you prosper.

Coming into my internship, I didn’t know what to expect. I didn’t know if I would end the summer happy to have a break from the busy work or with new skills and experiences I could apply to my future. By the end of this internship, I am confident that I will leave knowing I have gained valuable knowledge and skills with the help of many influential team members.

Thompson Thrift’s internship program has brought on 52 past interns as full-time team members. During the program, Thompson Thrift aims to mentor young individuals and demonstrate the value of teamwork and company culture.

Adam recently celebrated his 25 year anniversary with Thompson Thrift. His is the ultimate intern-turned-full-time story. Adam started with Thompson Thrift on May 18, 1998 and has worked in every business unit. He is often our go-to person when we are needing historical data or in-depth knowledge on our developments. Today, Adam is a Senior Owner’s Representative and applies his industry knowledge to keep our communities on track and looking excellent. His attention to detail is unmatched and our company is lucky to have him and his 25 years of service.

While Thompson Thrift has welcomed interns to learn and grow for years, the program was restructured and started quickly expanding in 2017. Since then, our program has continued to evolve, resulting in nearly 30% of interns becoming fulltime team members.
