While the flight delays that recently plagued Perimeter Aviation began to subside during the holiday season following an unscheduled fleet inspection, leadership among First Nations communities continue to perceive a lack of information surrounding the decision to undertake inspections. In a letter to customers on Christmas Day, Perimeter Aviation declared that they had successfully combatted delays

sparked by unscheduled delays and exacerbated by cold weather. “The whole Perimeter family worked very hard to transport all passengers and their cargo in time for Christmas, and we are very proud to say the mission was successfully accomplished,” the letter read. “We sincerely apologize for the recent service disruptions and associated inconveniences we have caused.” However, Manitoba Keewatinowi Okimakanak Grand Chief

Sheila North Wilson is demanding further information surrounding the delays and their consequences. “MKO is continuing to press for a full report on which flights have been cancelled or delayed and why, and how stranded passengers are being assisted,” she said in a pre-Christmas press release. “Perimeter also owes MKO First Nations fi rm commitments on how they can guarantee these

types of errors will not be repeated.” Perimeter Aviation was unable to be reached for comment throughout the holiday season. North Wilson said that Perimeter had acquired additional planes to support the backlog of passengers throughout December, and has made commitments to permanently expand its fl eet. North Wilson also noted the airline promised an expanded phone system and website to make flight information more accessible to consumers.
