Thompson’s 2015 financial plan has been released, and during a public hearing on April 16, a handful of residents showed up to ask questions about the numbers. Homeowners in Thompson will be paying more property taxes, due to a 1.5 per cent increase to the residential mill rate, which was 37.714 in 2013, and has increased to 38.298. Using an example of a home worth $200,000 owners will be paying an additional $53 a year making taxes $1,860. Commercial buildings worth $200,000 will see an increase of 1.6 per cent, due to the commercial mill rate increasing from 49.104 to 49.908.
