KoBel-Höfe New functions for vacant and poorly used farms as a starting point for a diverse village life
Basis of this master thesis is the municipality Sonnberg in Mühlkreis. This is a small village in the northern, peri-urban area of the Upper Austrian capital Linz. Initially, the focus is on the analysis of the region in which Sonnberg im Mühlkreis is located, in order to illustrate the surrounding relations. This is followed by a close look at the local development, which shows a structural change from an agricultural to a residential and commuter community. The vacancy caused by this change was recorded through a management survey, which shows a high proportion of poorly used farms. The key challenge is to find new functions for vacancies, which create benefits for owners, users and village life. Therefore, the research question arises:
Which new functions can be taken over by vacant and under-utilized farms in the municipality of Sonnberg im Mühlkreis, thereby contributing to a diverse village life?
