BASEBALL Our baseball program’s philosophy is based on how “the majority of our players think, work, and act a majority of the time.” By creating honest relationships with each other, we develop a clear understanding of how everyone “thinks” about their goals, plans, and role.

GOLF Our men’s golf team competes in the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) as a member of the NCAA Division III. Our philosphy on the Thomas Men’s Golf Team is to provide a positive academic and athletic experience for the student-athletes. SOCCER Our men’s soccer program is one of the most diverse, dynamic, and exciting in the country. We have a great mix of local, domestic, and international talent. The men’s soccer program competes in the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) as a member of the NCAA Division III. BERNATCHEZ (RED) AND SMITH (BLACK) TURF FIELDS
Our indoor and outdoor athletic facilities are designed to help Thomas student-athletes succeed and for our fans, visitors, and local schools to enjoy. From the turf field complex and fan stands to our Harold Alfond Athletic Center, with a workout room and indoor track, we are equipped for all our students to maintain a healthy and happy lifestyle outside of the classroom.

Our turf fields sit adjacent to each other in the Kennebec Savings Turf Complex, primarily used by the men and women’s soccer teams, the men and women’s lacrosse teams, and the field hockey team. The fields are commonly known as the “black” and “red” fields, for the different colored 12-foot borders surrounding each field.
This field serves as the playing and practice facility for our baseball program, which consists of a grass infield and outfield, and an in-ground irrigation system. It meets NCAA standards with team dugouts and permanent fencing. Three batting cages and one bullpen are located off of left field. SOFTBALL FIELD
HAROLD ALFOND ATHLETIC CENTER This athletic complex was designed with the intention of functioning as a recreation center for the student population and a state-of-the-art indoor training facility for Thomas College’s athletic teams. There are three regulation tennis courts atop a Mondo rubberized composite floor. Included in this facility: Multi-sport, three-court surface Jogging track Fitness center with weight room and cardio room Multipurpose room Plyometrics room
This field is the playing and practice facility for our softball program, it has a skinned infield and grass outfield. It meets NCAA standards for playing specifications with team dugouts and permanent fencing. A bullpen is located off of each dugout, along with a press box and concession area. ALUMNI FIELD This space serves as an alternative grass practice field for our men and women’s soccer teams, and our men and women’s lacrosse teams. LARRY MAHANEY GYMNASIUM This is the playing and practice facility for our men’s and women’s basketball teams.
NEW SPORTS CENTER
The new Thomas College Sports Center is slated to open in August 2022. The much-needed, new facility, designed by SMRT Architects and currently under construction with Sheridan Construction Corporation and E.L. Vining & Son, Inc., will encompass 18,000 square feet for the College’s athletic and Esports programs. Inside, students, staff, and guests will find training space, coaches’ offices, locker rooms, an Esports facility, and more.
PEAK MENTAL PERFORMANCE TRAINING At Thomas, we know that being a student-athlete goes beyond competing. Our Mental Peak Performance Training program focuses on improving your self-confidence while enabling you to make good decisions and self-motivate. As important as physical fitness is to a student-athlete, we know that positive mental health is crucial to performing at your best.
STRENGTH & CONDITIONING With our year-round strength and conditioning program, our student-athletes stay in top shape in the off season and are prepared to compete on day one of the regular season. Our strength and conditioning coaches tailor specific workout plans for every program to make sure that you’re doing the right exercises to excel in your sport.
ACADEMIC SUPPORT For us, the student always comes first in student-athlete. Our coaches and staff are committed to success in the classroom. Many of our programs have required study hall hours, and we work closely with our Student Success Center to make sure student-athletes are receiving the peer tutor support that they need. Since we’re athletes, we also like to make things competitive. We have an annual academic challenge for our programs to record a team GPA of 3.0 or higher, with a special dinner as a reward for those that meet the goal. In 2019, a record 16 teams were recognized for achieving the goal, with the highest team GPA coming in at 3.58.
