Redeveloping the Atlanta train coordor for pedestrain use.
Spring 2025
The Atlanta Gulch is a historically significant area in downtown Atlanta, Georgia, known for its deep ties to the city’s railroad history. Originally a lowlying, undeveloped area, the Gulch became a major transportation hub in the 19th and early 20th centuries, housing rail lines that connected Atlanta to other major cities. Over time, as rail travel declined and the city expanded, the Gulch fell into disuse, becoming a largely vacant, underdeveloped space beneath elevated roads and viaducts. For decades, it remained an eyesore and a target for redevelopment proposals. In recent years, ambitious plans have emerged to transform the Gulch into a mixed-use district with commercial, residential, and entertainment spaces, aiming to revitalize this once-vital part of Atlanta’s urban landscape.

EXPANDING DOWNTOWN ATHENS
Oconee River Warehouse District
Athens, Georgia
Expand Downtown to the underutilized North Oconee River Spring 2023
The North Oconee River in Athens, Georgia, is a hidden treasure within the city, often overlooked due to inadequate planning and invasive vegetation. Despite its concealed nature, the river has gained increasing attention over the years. In its earlier days, the riverbanks were lined with warehouses, symbolizing Athens’ industrial past. My objective is to revitalize the riverfront, seamlessly extending the downtown grid in a way that promotes vitality and sustainability

Extending the Greenway
In recent years, the city of Athens has undertaken the construction and design of a greenway along the North Oconee River, spanning seven and a half miles. Although a commendable initiative, the existing greenway lacks connectivity. My project aims to serve as the crucial link that bridges the North Greenway to the South Greenway beneath the Oconee Street Bridge. This connection will finally enable seamless movement for users, allowing them to travel from Sandy Creek Park in the north to the University of Georgia’s east campus in the south.

Redesign award winning Atlanta Dairies site by Perkins and Will Fall 2022
Atlanta Dairies, located on Memorial Drive in Atlanta, was once a bustling dairy production facility that operated for decades, supplying milk and dairy products to the region. Established in the 1940s, the site was a key part of Atlanta’s industrial and commercial growth, reflecting the city’s expanding food production sector. After ceasing operations, the facility sat dormant for years until redevelopment efforts transformed it into a vibrant mixed-use destination. Today, Atlanta Dairies is home to entertainment venues, restaurants, offices, and retail spaces, blending historic industrial charm with modern urban renewal. During the summer, the venue comes alive with outdoor concerts, events, and social gatherings, making it a popular spot for locals and visitors to experience Atlanta’s revitalized Eastside.

Pro bono planting design for Client’s El Paso office.
Summer 2024
During my summer internship with Norris Design in Phoenix, Arizona, I worked on a pro bono project redesigning a client’s site around their office in El Paso, Texas. As part of the project, I met with the clients to discuss potential ideas for improving their office surroundings and explored design possibilities for the adjacent lot. The team I worked with proposed adding exterior seating along the side of the building, renovating the existing parking lot, and making design improvements near Montwood Drive. Additionally, we aimed to give the adjacent lot, which the client used for parking and material storage, a fresh new look.

Baseball Stadium Design
Analyize the history of baseball stadiums and their unique design.
Fall 2022
Unlike other sports, baseball stadiums break from traditional stadium design due to the field’s unique, non-standardized dimensions. Beyond the diamond, outfield sizes vary, with only modern-day minimums—322 feet along the foul lines and 400 feet at center field—providing general guidelines. However, baseball is at its strongest when deeply integrated into the community. While players, coaches, and organizations contribute to this connection, a team’s most tangible link to its fans is through its stadium. The most iconic ballparks embody the culture, architecture, and spirit of their surroundings, thriving in the heart of the city rather than in the isolation of the suburbs.

GRAPHIC INSPIRED ONLINE BY LOUIS J. SPIRTO: USED TO SHOW THE DIFFERENCES IN PLAYING FIELDS THROUGHOUT THE MLB
The Architecture promoted a fun viewing atmosphere. It featured a more modern looking grandstand. With a two-storied baseline stand as well as two smaller stands flanking each side. The roof itself featured turrets that greatly resembled fairgrounds tents
The stadium, Oakland Coliseum, had too many design faults that were reflected in many multiuse stadiums. The stadiums were too general and made both baseball and football fans frustrated
The Baltimore Orioles were the new team in town as they had just moved from St. Louis. From there they accompanied the Baltimore Colts (NFL) in the mixed-use Memorial Stadium. Memorial Stadium which was built in 1950 in the Baltimore suburbs to attract an MLB team. Memorial designed like a bowl with concrete grandstands and a reddish brick exterior.
The once old Camden Yards warehouse was kept and renovated into the team’s new headquarters that was integrated into the stadium. The façade was made more building-like and less stadium-like with a series of wide arches, alluding to traditional baseball architecture without imitating it directly.

Meigs looks to use Lovejoy Park to help put itself back on the map. The 6 block park east of downtown. Houses a baseball field, a basketball court, and a playground. Meigs wants not only for the park to be used by the coummunity, but also to attract people from surrounding towns.

FURTHERING KNOWLEDGE OF DIGITAL VISUALIZATION
Working through digital graphics for landscape architecture involves leveraging powerful visualization tools like Lumion and Twinmotion to bring designs to life. These software platforms enable the creation of immersive, photorealistic renderings and animations that effectively communicate spatial relationships, materials, lighting, and environmental context. By integrating 3D modeling with dynamic elements such as weather, vegetation growth, and real-time lighting adjustments, I can refine my concepts and present compelling narratives in projects. The ability to iterate quickly and explore multiple design scenarios enhances both creativity and efficiency, making these tools essential in modern landscape architecture visualization.

Hand graphics play a vital role in landscape architecture, offering a personal and expressive approach to design communication. Working with hand renderings and sketches allows for quick ideation, intuitive problem-solving, and a deeper connection to the creative process. Freehand sketches help explore spatial relationships, composition, and conceptual ideas, while detailed hand renderings bring warmth and artistic character to a design. Hand graphics remain a timeless and essential tool in landscape architecture, bridging the gap between conceptual thinking and refined design presentation.

BIOGRAPHY
Joining landscape architecture is something I never knew I needed. I have always had an interest in designing, creating, and problem-solving, though I never knew how to apply these interests at the University of Georgia. Upon discovering landscape architecture, I found a passion for planning, historic preservation, and transportation design. This field allows me to blend creativity with functionality, shaping environments that are both aesthetically pleasing and practical. Through my studies, I have developed a deeper appreciation for the impact of thoughtful design on communities and the environment. I am excited to continue exploring the endless possibilities that landscape architecture offers.
