The design of senior living communities has become a passion for me. My work with owners, developers, operators, staff members, and residents has deepened my respect for those who assist seniors as they seek a living environment that will enhance the quality of their lives. My experience with my own mother in her last years offered personal insight into how an upscale, warm, well-planned environment can contribute to our family members' comfort, dignity, and well-being.

My graduate certificate in gerontology has provided me with an even deeper understanding of the requirements for seniors' social, psychological, physical, and spiritual needs.

THE THOMA-HOLEC DIFFERENCE LuAnn Thoma-Holec, Principal Designer, holds a graduate certificate in Gerontology from Arizona State University and is a National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ) certified interior designer, which enables her to become licensed in all states or provinces.

Thoma-Holec Design is a “senior-centric” design firm, meaning designing senior housing is ALL we do. 100% of our designs incorporate techniques, resources and materials that are appropriate for senior housing.

LuAnn Thoma-Holec’s background also includes designing marketing centers and merchandising models for home builders and developers. Her deep understanding of branding and marketing requirements for senior housing is an added benefit for our clients.

LuAnn's passion for senior living interior design inspired her to launch a company exclusively dedicated to it.

Her extensive experience guides Thoma-Holec Design's process, resulting in award-winning, welcoming spaces for residents and staff of senior living communities throughout the US and Canada.

Her vision has been successfully demonstrated in hundreds of communities, where residents enjoy home-like, residential surroundings with remarkable amenities that showcase each community’s commitment to hospitality.

LuAnn, and her team of talented designers, have earned numerous national, regional and local awards.

Their expertise enhancing the social model of senior living and care contribute to the marketability of newly constructed, repositioned, and remodeled communities, resulting in faster lease-ups and strong ROIs. Keith's primary responsibilities are to overview contract agreements, budgets, and project deadlines, he also reviews internal workflow & processes to gain efficiencies. Keith earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts, Intermedia at Arizona State University, followed by an Interior Design degree from Scottsdale Community College following the time he spent working in a variety of fine art and commercial design industries that helped define his passion for the work he does today.

Amy's passion for renovations and repositioning projects has deemed her the nickname "Renovator Extraordinaire." Amy's ability to transform dated communities enables Thoma-Holec Design to serve a rapidly growing segment of the senior living market. Her dedication to repositioning through remodeling existing senior living communities' interior design has award-winning results. In addition, Amy's ability to efficiently and effectively manage several projects simultaneously makes her a strong asset to clients with multiple repositioning needs.

Amy earned her Associates's Degree in Interior Design at Waukesha County Technical College Pewaukee, WI.

As a Senior Designer, Kim makes all the selections for her projects, develops and manages budgets while maintaining complete awareness of all project details to ensure projects stay on schedule and budget. Her organization and ability to work efficiently never compromise the design and enables her to manage multiple projects at a time. Kym is originally from Washington State and earned her Bachelor of Arts in the School of Design and Construction at Washington State University in Pullman, WA.

Laura's expertise includes kitchen and bath cabinetry, along with space planning. In addition to providing LEED reviews for projects, her talents extend to her ability to select finishes, furniture, lighting, paint, fabric, and accessories. She enjoys the mix of hospitality, high-end residential and commercial design features inherent to senior living interior design. Originally from Colorado, Laura earned her Bachelor of Arts from Colorado State University and Interior Design Degree from Arapahoe Community College.

Qingming worked on a few residential projects in China, then came to the United States to expand her professional skills in interior design.

She joined Thoma-Holec Design in April 2013 as an assistant designer.

She honed her skills to become proficient in lighting and finish selections and overall project management, including reviewing legends and schedules for accuracy. Qingmeng's energy contributes to the creative flow found throughout our workspace. Qingmeng earned her Bachelor of Art and Design - Yunnan University, Kumming, Yunnan, China and completed her Masters in Interior Achitecture & Design from the Academy of Art University, San Francisco, CA in 2012.

Kristine joined the Thoma-Holec Design team in November 2020 as an Interior Designer. In her role, she assists designers with finish and furnishings selections. Originally from Phoenix, AZ, she brings ten years of hospitality management and renovation experience, including procurement and installations. Her most recent experience includes reviewing submittals from hotel owners and designers to ensure compliance with brand design guidelines at one of the largest hotel chains. Kristine earned her AAS of Interior Design from Scottsdale Community College.

Sean joined the Thoma-Holec Design team as an Interior Designer in November 2020 bringing with him high-end residential and c ommercial tenant improvement experience. His commercial interior design experience includes office, retail, laboratory, and medical projects along with expertise in technical design, 3D modeling, and rendering. Sean is a graduate of the Master of Interior Architecture program at the University of California Los Angeles and Arizona State University where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Design Management and Minors in both Business and Sustainability.

Breanna Cruz-Zamora Interior Design Assistant

Cherie’s strong work ethic and commitment to details and deadlines are significant contributors to her success on the Thoma-Holec Design team. In addition to her primary functions that include model interiors, creating life-skill stations and selecting memory support furnishings and accessories, she also assists Carol with accounting tasks and budget reconciliations when projects are completed. As a strong problem-solver while on job sites, she minimizes punch list items keeping installations on track. Along with her degree in Interior Design from Scottsdale Community college and experience from the Model Home Merchandising Division at Habitat, Cherie’s organizational skills, creativity and reliability allow her to multitask while also keeping up with her active family.

Prior to joining Thoma-Holec Design, Katie gained valuable experience as a member of the ASID North Chapter Co-Chair of Programs Committee and as ASID Scottsdale Community College Vice President. Her time management, organization, and technology skills ensure the creation of quality digital presentations for the design team and efficient review and adherence to budgets, while her creativity contributes to the selection process of lighting, finishes, artwork, accessories, furniture, and fabrics. Katie earned a BA in Interior Design from Columbus College of Art & Design, and her Katie Brunskill, Allied ASID, Professional Level Certificate/Interior Design, and her AA in Interior Design from Scottsdale Community Colleg Interior Design Assistant

Breanna joined the Thoma-Holec Design team in February 2021 as an Assistant Designer. In her role, she assists senior designers with all phases of their including selections of finishes, furnishings, Loremprojects, ipsum art, accessories, as well as creating color boards for clients. In addition, her experience includes space planning, procurement, material selections, FFE, and more. She previously worked with a high-end design firm that involved working with clients of a luxury resort-style living and a branded short-term vacation rental company with a start-up hospitality environment. Breanna earned her BS in Interior Design from Northern Arizona University and her AAS in Interior Design and Merchandising from Mesa Community College.

In her Interior Design Installation Specialist role, Cathie's prime responsibilities will be to coordinate with clients, warehouse, designers, and trades to ensure all aspects of the installations go accordingly to schedule. Cathie completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Interior Design from Arizona State University. She's worked primarily in commercial design in both AZ & CO and has eight years of project management experience.

Leslie began working in the model home industry immediately out of college but soon discovered a love for helping people heal through beautifully designed spaces. She has worked on all sizes of projects from small sales centers, Community Recreation Centers on up to large multistory Hospitals. She loves seeing a project through all phases and has 20 years of experience putting together projects from Design Development, Construction Documentation on through Construction Administration. Leslie earned her Bachelor of Science in Interior Design at the University of Arizona, Tucson and attended the Denmark Design School in the Summer Abroad Program.

Carol is responsible for managing the back-end of the business for Thoma-Holec Design. With over 15 years’ experience performing accounting and bookkeeping functions for interior design firms, Carol is responsible for all internal accounts payable, receivables, and procurement tracking. Prior to joining Thoma-Holec Design she was employed at MGA Interiors and Habitat, Inc. in the accounts payable department.

As the manager of all things related to procurement at Thoma-Holec Design, Paula’s experience is literally the business of design. Her hardline pragmatism as it relates to budgets and schedules ensures the accuracy and timeliness of our installations. Her risk-adverse thinking contributes to our strong position in the marketplace. Paula’s experience as a furniture consultant and project manager to large commercial interiors firms in New York City included the New York Public Library, United Nations Headquarters, Goldman Sachs NY Headquarters, Whitney Museum of American Art, Brooklyn Supreme and Family Courthouse. After living on the east coast facilitating the design and servicing the end-user market, Paula moved to Arizona in 2015.

Christopher’s dedication to the interior design industry results from over 40 years’ experience servicing the trade showroom and high-end interior design firms. Having been on both sides of the fence, he understands the mindsets of designers and manufacturers and exercises patience when faced with difficult situations. His attention to detail and following through are demonstrated while working with clients and vendors to ensure the all purchase orders are prepared efficiently and the process runs smoothly from start to finish. In addition to working closely with specifiers, craftsmen, tradesmen and delivery services, Chris is responsible for all data entry pertaining to orders, following up and scheduling – always with his positive attitude and outlook.

In the role of Marketing Manager, Maricela will be responsible for overseeing our digital marketing strategies, branding, and further strengthening our relationships with our clients, vendors, and partners.

Maricela has over six years of experience in the marketing and sales field.

She holds various web development and digital marketing certifications that will be an asset to elevate further and expand the Thoma-Holec Design brand.
