En agosto de 1956 la propiedad fue adquirida por la Sra. HISTORY Christian Tavelli started working with the Rosewood company 8 years ago, but his career as a hotelier began much earlier, with stops across Europe and the United States. He was already managing a Rosewood property in California when he was brought to San Miguel to open what is now Rosewood San Miguel located on Nemesis street. TRAYECTORIA Bruce James, Director de Hotel Matilda San Miguel de Allende, inició su carrera como Director de Ventas en hoteles en Toronto, entre ellos el Hotel Pantages, posteriormente tomó la Gerencia del Hotel Casa del Mar en Los Cabos, bajo el concepto de Hotel Boutique, en donde tuvo como tarea su renovación. Gracias a este proyecto, Bruce fue invitado a la renovación del Hotel Quinta Real en Acapulco. Ésta consistió en elevar su nivel y concepto, fue un momento importante en su carrera, ya que la gente comenzó a tomar conciencia de su labor; a partir de este proyecto Bruce ha enfocado su carrera en una pasión por los retos, las creaciones y las renovaciones: “Me gusta establecer excelentes imágenes y estándares de alta calidad”, menciona. Tiempo después participó en la renovación del Hotel Habita, en la Ciudad de México. Legend tells of The Carambada, a tough woman, brave and aggressive, who was known for her famous robberies. It is said that the government, upon learning of her criminal talent, sent her to join the cabinet of Benito Juarez and that she is responsible for his death, when in revenge for a crime of passion, she mixed poisonous plants with his food.

Este conde del S. XVIII, hijo de amos y señores ricos provenientes de España era uno de los jóvenes más distinguidos del lugar, por su clase y vestimenta lujosa. Su hermosa capa estaba hecha de seda con piedras preciosas e hilos de oro. Luis Lanza Gorta era, en pocas palabras el líder de todos los niños ricos de la Villa de San Miguel el Grande. Decidió tomar un reto de valentía, entrar al cementerio, ahora cementerio de San Juan de Dios, a la media noche. Para mostrar su enorme fuerza y valor a sus amigos a la siguiente mañana, clavaría una estaca hasta el fondo del cementerio, de esta manera podría verificar haber logrado el desafío. Al siguiente día sus amigos lo encontraron muerto en el punto donde enterró la estaca. Descubrieron que él mismo, sin darse cuenta, clavó su capa con la estaca y murió aterrorizado por la creencia de que había sido detenido por algún alma del cementerio. Desde entonces fue enterrado en ese mismo lugar y su cripta todavía existe al fondo del cementerio. Cuenta el historiador que a la media noche se le puede observar en su cripta en forma de sombra pidiendo ayuda para salir del cementerio.

This 18th century count, son of rich Spanish lords from Spain was one of the most distiguished young men of San Miguel for his class and his luxurious clothing. He had a beautiful cape made of silk with precious stones and golden thread. Luis Lanza Gorta was the leader of the San Miguel rich kids. He decided to accept a dare and enter what is now known as the cemetery of San Juan de Dios, at midnight. As a demonstration to his friends of his strength and courage he would nail a stake in the ground on the far side of the cemetery and prove he was fearless. The following day his friends found him dead in that very spot. They discovered that he had unintentionally nailed his own cape to the stake and died from terror, believing that he was being held down by a spirit. He was buried in that same cemetery and his crypt can still be found at its far end. Legend has it that at midnight near his crypt you can still see the shaow of a man crying out for help.

El hombre-lobo prehispánico The prehispanic werewolf Cerca del manantial de San Miguel de Allende, mejor conocido como “El Chorro” ubicado en el barrio de Ojo de Agua, durante la madrugada y en las noches de luna llena, cuenta la leyenda que se ha visto a este Nahual en búsqueda de comida, granos, gallinas, y lo más espeluznante: hasta niños. Los rumores dicen que este Nahual es hijo de indígenas que tenían los conocimientos de la magia negra, y el niño aprendió el hechizo de convertirse en mitad hombre mitad animal. Se dice que vive en la montañas de los Picachos y se le ha visto por los lavaderos de la cuidad, cerca de donde vivía con sus padres en el barrio de Ojo de Agua.

Near the fountain of San Miguel de Allende, better known as “El Chorro” located in the neighborhood of Ojo de Agua, at dawn and during the full moon, locals say that Nahual can be seen in search of food; grain, chickens, and scariest of all: children. Legend has it that this is the son of a Nahual Indian who studied black magic and learned how to tranform himself into a half man, half animal. He is said to live in the Picacho mountains and has been seen near the stone wash basins of the city, where he lived with his parents in the neighborhood of Ojo de Agua.

The Oratorio San Felipe Neri is a famous temple in San Miguel de Allende. Its fame is closely related to two elements that have marked its history.

El primero de ellos es el estilo indígena, pues hace más de 250 años fue un templo prehispánico; cuando los españoles llegaron pidieron a los nativos entregar el templo, la comunidad indígena se negó de manera escrita, sin embargo al abrir el documento que contenía este rechazo, el texto había desaparecido, al pensar en un posible milagro, los indígenas cedieron. El segundo aspecto, igualmente interesante es el rumor que ha corrido por generaciones; cuenta la leyenda que en plena época de rebelión, los sacerdotes decidieron esconder los tesoros de la iglesia en un toro disecado. Hay ocasiones en que los visitantes pueden ver a este animal en alguna parte del altar, sin embargo éste siempre desaparece.w

When the Spanish arrived they asked the natives to give them the temple and the indigenous community refused in writing, but when the document containing their refusal was opened the text had disappeared. The Spanish believed this was a miracle from God and the church was taken from its original devotees. Another interesting legend told generation after generationhas is that at the height of rebellion, the priests of the Oratorio hid the church’s valuables in a stuffed bull. Often times visitors claim to see the bull on a part of the church’s altar, but it always disappears.

Anayatzy Morales, artista plástica mexicana, utiliza la tradicional técnica de la Xilografía (grabado en madera) y busca su propia representación, a través de un estilo artístico y poético.

Sus obras están dirigidas a cualquier persona, sea o no conocedora del arte, que le agrade apreciar la sutileza de un cuerpo femenino, mostrada a través de un juego de contrastes, luces y sombras. Anayatzin concibe al arte como una de las más grandes, libres y genuinas formas de expresión, refleja en ella sentimientos, cariños, deseos y anhelos.

Anayatzy utiliza temas de erotismo, desnudo, principalmente femeninos; resaltando la sutileza de los contrastes lumínicos y curvilíneos que posee la figura de una mujer. Estudió la Licenciatura en Artes Visuales en la Escuela Nacional de Artes Plásticas de la UNAM; cuenta con 6 exposiciones colectivas y una exposición individual; actualmente trabaja en el Museo de la Ciudad de México.

Entre los artistas que la han inspirado se encuentran Toulouse - Lautrec, Picasso, Monet y Manet, por mencionar algunos, principalmente por su forma de expresión y la utilización de diversas técnicas. “El artista debe dirigirse a todo público, para crear una mayor apertura a él, a su difusión y al entendimiento de él mismo como un medio de expresión y comprensión”, menciona. Octavio Paz decía que la artesanía pertenece a un mundo anterior a la separación entre lo útil y lo hermoso. La talavera ejemplifica mejor que ningún otro producto cultural esta condición de eslabón superior entre la tradición artesanal y la propia obra de arte. Hay en cada pieza de talavera un índice de la historia de la ciudad y la región. Diseños ancestrales, con sus mínimas variaciones, hablan de quien lo produce y de quien lo consume. Son muy pocos los productos artesanales mexicanos que adquieren por su valor y trascendencia histórica esta aura de obra de arte sincrético, auténticamente mexicano y recipiente de las influencias más variadas en la alfarería mundial.

TRADICIÓN

La tradición se pone al día con Uriarte Talavera: la historia de Casa Uriarte nace en este contexto histórico cuando Don Ygnacio Uriarte decide emprender un negocio en el México recién independizado, adquiriendo un pequeño taller de loza blanca llamado “La Guadalupana” en el año de 1824. Desde ese año, hasta nuestros días, la fábrica de Uriarte ha producido la mejor talavera del mundo siguiendo con la tradición colonial en la intrincada elaboración de la loza blanca. Casa Uriarte sigue estando ubicada en el mismo inmueble histórico, en la antigua Calle de Mesón de Sosa no.13 (hoy 4 poniente 911) que vio florecer el negocio de Don Ygnacio hasta lo que es hoy en día: la más grande e importante fábrica de talavera reconocida internacionalmente, además de ser la empresa más antigua de Puebla y la octava más antigua del país.

By buying a small shop in 1824 that produced white crockery called “La Guadalupana”. From that day until the present, the Uriarte factory has produced the best Talavera in the world, following the colonial tradition in the intricate elaboration of white crockery. Casa Uriarte is still situated in the same historic building, located in the street of Meson de Sosa No.13 (today 4 poniente 911) that saw Don Ygnacio business flourish and become what it is today: The largest and most important world renowned Talavera factory. Desde el momento en que la pintora alemana llegó a México, se enamoró del ambiente de San Miguel de Allende; su llegada a la Fábrica La Aurora implicó la transformación de una sencilla bodega en una hermosa Galería, llena de luz, felicidad y amor.
