FX Window Records $34bn Turnover in Seven Months External reserves drop to $46bn

The Investors and Exporters’ (I & E) foreign exchange (forex) window recorded a total turnover of $33.67 billion
between January and July 2018. The FMDQ OTC Securities Exchange revealed this in its report for July 2018. This is just as Nigeria’s external reserves dropped
to $46.129 billion as of last Thursday. The depreciation represented a decline by $944 million, compared with the $47.073 billion it was at the beginning of August.
The FMDQ report showed that total forex market turnover in July was $12.61 billion, a 36.31 per cent ($7.19 billion) decline from the turnover recorded in June ($19.80 billion).
Also, turnover at the I&E forex window in July was $3.39 billion, a 13.74 per cent ($0.54 billion) decline from the value recorded in June ($3.93 billion). The decline was attributed
