met by the federal government or they shut down their operations. This is coming as the distribution companies (Discos) have kicked against the federal
government’s selection of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) to manage the N72 billion financial investments it intends to inject into the distribution network
nationwide. The Discos have also identified low power transmission caused by the persistent directive from the National Control Centre (NCC)
to generation companies to generate electricity below optimal level as a major hindrance to the country’s drive towards efficient power supply and called on the

Tinubu: Uncertainty over Automatic Ticket Made Saraki, Tambuwal to Leave APC Gboyega Akinsanmi
The All Progressives Congress (APC) National Leader, Senator Bola Tinubu, has stated that the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, and the Sokoto State Governor, Mr. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, among others, left the APC because the ruling party could not offer them automatic tickets. He said in Lagos that the defectors wanted automatic tickets and sharing of the national wealth, which the governing APC could not
guarantee. The APC leader unfolded his mind in a lengthy statement he personally signed, entitled: “They Go Away Because We Go the Right Way.” According to him, the defectors “left the party to return to a motley agglomeration that would promise them what true democracy could not: automatic tickets, sharing of the national wealth and other offices and privileges.” Continued on page 8
Akwa Ibom Sues EFCC, three others for N50bn over Freezing of Account Okon Bassey in Uyo Akwa Ibom State Government has dragged the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to court, demanding N50 billion as damages over recent freezing of the state's accounts. Joined in the suit with reference No: FHC/UY/ CS/137/18 as co-defendants are the Attorney General of the Federation, Zenith Bank Plc, Skye Bank Plc and United
Bank for Africa Plc. The state government is complaining that the recent freezing of its accounts by the anti-graft agency for about 72 hours was unlawful and had crippled both the economy and reputation of the state.
