After returning to Callahan from the Korean War in 1955, he married Ann Brandies and started working full-time at the Callahan store. Don found he loved the hardware business, and he dedicated his life to it. began in 1950, when Don Hagan started working part-time at Brandies Hardware Store in Callahan, owned by Cliff and Lucille Brandies. Don met Ann, the couple’s eldest daughter, at school in Callahan. He often walked Ann to her home above the hardware store. One afternoon, Cliff asked Don to come downstairs and help him in the store.
