Thismonth,wecallattentiontothegrowthofpovertyinAmericaPovertyisaffectedbymanyelementsofoursociety,including housing,education,health,opportunity,safety,andjusticeTheUSCensusreportsthenationalaverageofAmericansinpoverty is117%,withTexasreporting134%,the13th-highestpovertyrateintheUnitedStates Howcanwehelpwithpovertyissuesinourcommunity?Whilepovertyasawholecanfeeloverwhelmingtotackle,thereare wayswecaneachmakeasignificantcontributionwithminimaleffort:

1. Challenge assumptions and get informed. Forexample,homelessnessisnotachoiceWhenyoulearnaboutthepoverty statisticswithinyourowncommunity,itisaloteasiernotonlytounderstandandgrowcompassionbutalsotofindareasof interestyoumayliketosupport

2 Donate and volunteer Therearesomanyfantasticcharitiesandnon-profitorganizationsthatareindesperateneedofour supportWhileASIDcannotdirectlyendorseanyonespecifically,weencourageallourmemberstogetinvolvedandhelp withinourcommunities
