President’s Message
Greetings ASID Texas Chapter: By the time this magazine letter finds you, the Texas Chapter will be halfway 2022! What a great time we are having getting some folks back together in smaller groups and reconnecting.
Times have proven that change should be expected, and we are sure changing daily and growing together.
The student Real World Design Week took place February 28 – March 4, 2022, and it was a great success with all the
talented leaders, mentors, and communities. Corey Davey, Laura Stewart, Veronica Sanders, and so many others have
worked very hard to bring together students with professionals. Thank you for taking the time to help the ASID TX Chapter grow.
Moving forward, it is my wish to continue to help us embrace change and impact our communities with the incredible leadership that this chapter provides. I highly encourage our Design Communities membership in Austin, Dallas, Ft. Worth,
and San Antonio to enter the competitions and show off all the talent we have and the successful collaboration with our
Industry Partners. Then, let’s fully support Celebrating Design Texas in August with our wonderful partner Dallas Market
Center. Sign up began in May for this competition, with vendor expo and continuing education courses all to culminate
in the Awards gala.
Together, we can build and grow our interior design profession and make an impact that lasts a lifetime. Let’s join each
other in rebuilding, reconnecting, and reviving the Texas Chapter. Your advocate and partner,
Annette Key Mallard, ASID

By Michael Gompers, OneMedia Wireless With most interior design projects, the timeframe from initial meeting to installation takes months as ideas are conceptualized, developed, designed, and approved. There is an opportunity to improve that process via Design in Real Time, powered by Bluescape, which uses visual collaboration technology to help designers and customers come together virtually through all stages of the design process, enabling a more engaging and innovative experience from the start. With Design in Real Time, designers no longer have to create in a vacuum, emailing large documents back and forth to clients for comment and red-lining and tracking the location of every iteration of every file. Every image, every note, every project decision is easily accessible and adjustable, which makes it that much quicker to turn around a custom solution. In most cases, using a Design in Real Time approach has reduced design time by at least 50 percent. If clients and design teams are geographically dispersed, everyone can simultaneously contribute, whether from a desktop computer, a laptop in a client’s living room or office, or an iPad on a plane. If someone doesn’t have the opportunity to verbalize an opinion during a meeting or has an idea afterward, it is easy to add to the project at any time, from anywhere.

IN REAL TIME
Innovative ways for designers to think about technology
Better Collaboration, Better Client Experiences
Designers pre-create a virtual workspace for the client filled with client needs, wants, and initial ideas. Clients, project managers, architects, designers, contractors, and the rest of the project team are granted access to the workspace to begin the Design in Real Time collaboration process. This on-site and on-the-spot visual collaboration session between clients and design teams results in an actionable project plan with many of the big decisions made in the first meeting. Every idea and iteration of the project is captured in a single virtual workplace that clients can access to advance projects on their own or in real time, eliminating the time-consuming back and forth of email and phone communications. It’s easy to see how effective collaboration is with Design in Real Time. Efficiency gains in regard to time, travel, people are estimated at approximately 30 percent. Clients actively participate in the design process, ensuring they receive exactly what they want at the project’s conclusion. One design firm reported that Bluescape reduced follow-up time by nearly 25 percent while also providing a unique and engaging client experience. With Bluescape, all large files are stored virtually in an interactive Bluescape workspace. Because the workspace is accessible from anywhere, clients no longer need to trek to a showroom. Instead, they have digital access, from their desktop or laptop, to the newest and best solutions for their space. Some benefits of Design in Real Time include: • Easy access to all projects and updated materials in a shared digital workspace • Real-time collaboration and decision-making with stakeholders across geographies • Enhanced creativity, more effective planning, and faster decision-making • Increased meeting and work efficiencies resulting in time savings and better project outcomes • Enhanced customer experience and active engagement • Time savings as planning and production phases are cut in half • Increased productivity with seamless idea sharing and immediate decision making Ultimately, Bluescape is a visual collaboration tool designed to help people and enterprises produce their best work. It lets you interact in real time with colleagues virtually or in person with a unique set of tools that improve and streamline your existing workflows. Bluescape provides secure virtual workspaces that help an enterprise unify its content and conversations in a shared, persistent space that can be accessed from any device or location. The cloud-based platform is designed to support video, web pages, Office 365 or Google Docs, emails, and other commonly-used channels. Michael Gompers is the former director of business development at Bluescape and managing partner at OneMedia Wireless. He has been bringing innovative solutions to the collaboration market for over 20 years, with a goal of simplified solutions that build on the strengths of an organization to deliver a future of growth, profit, and customer retention. For further information about how to engage with OneMedia and Bluescape, please visit www.onemediawireless.com or email mgompers@gmail.com. “The Design in Real Time approach is a hands-on experience with the stakeholders in the room and gives us the opportunity to take months and months of emails and communication and turn it into a very successful afternoon.” — Robert Carpenter, President of Price Modern “From a project management and creative process standpoint, Bluescape has been a game-changer for many global clients. Not only are they saving time — in fact, some have cut design times by almost half — but they’re gaining work efficiency.” — George Lucas Pfeiffer, EVP for BOS and Workspace Digital “As a visual repository of information, Bluescape gives you the ability to curate everything you need to support all phases of the design process. It gives you, your team, and your clients access to everything you could ever need, any time, any place, and accessible from anywhere.” — Yoel Berznoger, Client Engagement Studio Manager, Haworth ASID TEXAS CHAPTER | ISSUE 1 I 2022 - 37 -
