ommonwealth success recognised by Council

Malvern’s cycling sensation Evie Richards has been formally recognised for her Commonwealth Games success by members of Malvern Hills District Council.

The 21-year-old represented Team England at the games on Australia’s Gold Coast and claimed a silver medal in the women’s mountain bike cross country race.

In honour of her achievement, Malvern Hills District Council invited Evie to attend Tuesday’s Annual Council meeting (8 May) so they could formally congratulate her. She was also presented with a special certificate of recognition on behalf of the people of the district.

Speaking after the meeting Evie said the support she had received from her home town

Drama and Nursing Collaboration Leads to Performance at International Conference Students and staff at the University of Worcester have imparted the lessons learned from a collaboration between Drama and Nursing at a

major international nursing conference.

Drama undergraduates worked with nursing experts from the University to develop a workshop to teach effective communication around children’s end of life care to student nurses.The workshop was delivered to a wider audience at the RCN International Nursing Research Conference.

The project started last year, when the departments of Drama and Nursing combined forces to produce a workshop with both taught and practical sessions. A participatory performance, which included a range of situations involving a communication problem, was developed by the drama students in conjunction with the expert advice of Nursing experts at the University. The performance included scenarios that were based on the reallife experiences of children’s palliative and end of life care faced by final year student nurses during their training.people with complex disabilities.

•Ensure that all parties are ready to move. – Double check and treble check with your solicitor, landlord, removal company, that you are all ready to move on the same date and time.

Last thing you want is for you to ring your removal company and find out that they have double booked! At the end of the day it will be you who is looking for a bed and breakfast for somewhere to stay the night, not them!

• Pack early. It always takes longer than you think!

• Start with rooms you least need. If you have a spare room or items in the loft – start packing them – if you’re moving in the summer – you won’t be needing your Christmas decorations any time soon, so pack them up • Pack one room at a time. This keeps your house neat and tidy and more importantly liveable whilst you prepare for the move • Declutter. It’s always good to declutter so what better time to offload all those items you haven’t used since the last time you moved!

•And finally make sure you put some essentials in a bag so you know that once you have put all the boxes into your new home, you can sit down and have a brew without having to look through all the boxes to find a cup and the tea bags!

PADDLE, PLOD & PEDAL 2018 On the 24th June, St Richard’s Hopice will be hosting The Paddle, Plod and Pedal event.

The Paddle, Plod and Pedal follows a circular route through beautiful Worcestershire countryside along the River Avon and quiet country lanes. With a total route of approximately 45 miles, this is no easy feat.

This is an all-day challenge, but not a race. Teams of 8-10 people will set off in the bell boats from Pershore at 7am to Tewkesbury, then walk to Kempsey and cycle back to Pershore.Each element of the challenge is between 13 and 15 miles, which will be completed as a team at their own pace. Challengers will be welcomed back to Pershore Football Club at the end of the challenge for well deserved refreshments and a medal to celebrate their success.

There is no entry fee for this challenge however we would like you to pledge to raise £1,500 or more per team.

It rained nearly all day and hardly a soul ventured out until 4pm in the afternoon when the first sale was made, a McIntosh round table and 4 nesting chairs for the sum of £80. Charity Football Match in Memory of Marcus Davis A Charity Football Match is taking place on the 1st of July at the Gilt Edge Club in Kidderminster.

The event is being held in memory of Marcus Davis who sadly passed away on the 24th June due to testicular cancer. The event will be in aid of Teenage Cancer Trust and CLIC Sargent. A team of vets and a team of Marcus’s friends will be playing against each other.

Gates open at 12 pm. There will be live bands playing from 12:30 through till 5pm. The football match kicks off at at 2pm. Jody Craddock ex wolves player will be captaining the vets team. Ex Kidderminster Harriers players Dalwyn Humphreys, Anthony Malbon, Ryan Rowe and Darren Steadman, will be playing alongside former Hereford and Alvechurch player Jamie Willetts plus several ex semi pro players. There will be stalls for people to sell their own items as well as a BBQ, children’s entertainers and bouncy castles on the day.

In the afternoon there will be an auction and raffle, leading to a disco in the evening! The event still needs people to donate raffle prizes and stall holders.

The Frenchman’s optimism comes after he recorded his best result of the season so far with sixth place in Monaco on Sunday – a result he believes should be a sign of things to come from the team at the next round in Canada and beyond.

Ocon ran a long first stint in Monaco and then held off intense pressure from a train of cars to take his first top-ten finish on the famous street circuit.

But it wasn’t just the result that left the Frenchman glowing. It was also the performance – and more importantly potential – of the car he had beneath him, in the form of the Mercedes-powered VJM11. “The pace we had in the car was unbelievable,” he added. “

Graicie is incredibly sweet, playful and inquisitive . She gets on ok with my dogs and didn’t really bother with the cats. She much prefers human company and loves sitting on your chest or lap. I think she would benefit from a quieter home without young children and would make an excellent companion dog.
