Committee Chairman Rick Bellairs said. “Every year it is exciting for me to look out of the grandstand and see the smiling faces and the excitement. I love to see the hats and the signs – and it is always fun to see where everyone traveled from. This year, I’m looking forward to a great lineup of events, welcoming Tom Skilling, and celebrating a happy Groundhog Day in our
community.” Skilling is a TV weatherman in Chicago who will retire at the end of February.

School solar farm project hits snag By Larry Lough

With an offer more than $700,000 lower that the only other bidder, GRNE Solar of Palatine won a contract in July to build a solar array of 3,400 panels to serve the energy needs of Woodstock North High School. Now, the Board of Education of
Woodstock School District 200 is preparing to rescind that agreement because of what administrators call “a substantial increase” in the company’s price for the project. That reversal of a contract that had been revised just a month before was scheduled for last week’s board meeting, which was canceled because of the winter storm Jan. 9. Kevin Lyons,
director of communications for District 200, said the meeting would not be rescheduled but items on the agenda would be postponed until the board meets Jan. 23. GRNE, which is now GRNE/Nelnet Renewable Energy, had earlier sought a change in the terms of its contract, which the board originally approved See SOLAR, Page 3
