FROM THE HEAD OF SCHOOL Dear Members of The Williams School Community, I am pleased to share with you our annual report representing the record support we received throughout the past fiscal year from July 1, 2019 to June 30, 2020. Moreover, I am truly inspired by the effusive generosity and words of support you gave Williams during the pandemic; a time when we all shined. As a community, we are truly enriched by your spirit and the generous giving we received from all donors, who fall into numerous categories: alumni, alumni parent, alumni grandparent, corporation, foundation, friend, parent, and trustee. Through your collective efforts, we were able to meet and far exceed our designated Annual Fund goal of $300,000, while continuing to build on our endowment, which now exceeds $11 million! Two events highlighted your outstanding philanthropy: our 7th Annual Pamela Lancaster Pettinari ’77 Williams Golf Tournament, which netted its highest income ever to support the endowed Pettinari Scholarship Fund, AND our incredible Day of Giving in May, when all of you went above and beyond to support Williams in a time of unexpected circumstances and need. Your generous Annual Fund gifts provide the needed monies to support our gifted, dedicated, and talented faculty and the steadfast delivery of a strong teaching and learning program (and the teachers’ ability to pivot their lessons so effectively throughout the final quarter), enriching the lives of our amazing students each day. I truly enjoy saying Thank You, and so I say “Thank You” for choosing to support the Annual Fund, the Endowment and the many fun filled, school-sponsored events that you attended last year, some of them virtually! Your giving inspires, enhances, and strengthens our three core values of Scholarship, Character, and Community. I am most grateful for your support.

319 donors, including 131 alumni, helped us to far surpass our goals for Williamsâ&#x20AC;&#x2122; inaugural Day of Giving on May 20, 2020. The two challenges (229+ total gifts; 100+ gifts from alumni) were met and resulted in Williams securing $30,000 from our challenge donor. The generosity of spirit throughout the day was truly palpable: Excluding the challenge gift, nearly $80,000 was raised. Gifts ranged from $1.00 to $10,000. We received alumni donations from as early as the Class of 1942, and as recently as the Class of 2019. Gifts were made by every Williams constituency: alumni, current parents, parents of alumni, faculty and staff, current and past grandparents, students, and friends of the School.

ENDOWED GIFTS An endowment is created with an initial gift of substantial size that in turn provides annual income earnings generated by investment of the principal. Individual gifts are invested with other donor’s gifts to maximize the endowment value. Distributions are made annually to the programs designated by the donor, while the fund principal remains to provide support in perpetuity. Endowment gifts are professionally invested to provide income for the school’s operting budget, financial aid, and faculty support.
